Well, it certainly was another exciting day at the nest. While we are delighted that Junior is stepping up to the plate, we couldn't figure out how he been able to deliver two good sized fish within about half an hour. After much speculation about where he could have gone to fish and have time to catch and bring another, RSPB Loch Garten FB posted that an intruder male had brought the first trout (BNN's video), just before the 2nd delivery by Junior! Junior's looked much better, too, and she looked like she wanted to take it off him.© RSPB - Loch Garten and Carnyx Wild_______________________________________The Daily Update is for recording nest events only, allowing for banter, though—any questions or conversations can happen on the Osprey Chat thread. Thank you!
The events surrounding the two fish an intruder are still unclear. Then of course there were the subsequent "trout variety" discussions: Blue trout, sea trout, brown trout or rainbow trout??? It is a mystery to me, though whatever the first one was, it did seem like a tough tear for EJ.

Welling up as I read back and read the comments about dear Odin He and EJ had just a wonderful relationship. Do you remember that year when he'd chased off so many intruders and came back to the nest so exhausted that he rested down in the incubating position and EJ came and stood close to him as if she was consoling him? I have that capture as my desktop wallpaper
I wouldn't like EJ.s new mate to be called Thor.....too harsh. Orion is nice and so is Phoenix I wonder if LG will take any notice of our musings and suggestions?
Oh I remember that time when Odin returned exhausted Patily - I am truly welling up now :-)
Orion - the hunter, that is nice and I understand Pheonix but not a favourite.
I am edging towards a Scottish name, preferably a surname with a local connection so thinking of Speyside and their famous malts, I opted for Macallan.

A rain shower just passed. Junior remains steadfast on the eggs

He's back warning someone off.
