HAPPY NEW WEEK!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
Next Friday is Friday the 13th! LOL
I don't have a picture for this week, but some might be interested in this very short video. Just the other day, a 5.3 earthquake occurred in Southern California near Annette. The quake startled the daylights out of a bald eagle who was on a high nest with three chicks. No birds were harmed!
Hope you're okay, Annette!
I'm afraid I have been a bit of a lurker recently. We have good news and not so good and it is a bumpy ride rather like LG. Good news is that younger SD is now at the point of ordering furniture and looking to move in with luck in the next few weeks. Unfortunately the news on older SD is not so good. She was supposed to have had a course of tablets after chemo which never happened as she was rushed to hospital. She cannot have these tablets now as they can cause blood clots which is why she ended up in hospital again. I do not understand why but she now has to undergo a course of tablets to artificially induce menopause, she is only 41. So none of us know where this is all going and all rather worrying at the moment. Life is getting a bit overwhelming! Now awaiting the next developments.
Clare: Glad to see you have already reached your target and may it climb higher!!!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Well Done, Clare! - already - and you've not even got to June yet!
We got here OK, after another tiring journey, which took nearly three hours instead of only just two and a bit, due to the heavy Friday traffic. (Which is why we usually travel on Thursdays.) Then found that the heating wouldn't come on. A drama as, although it's not bitterly cold and we do have a gas fire, we needed to warm the place up after being empty all winter. The Site Manager confessed that they'd had an underground gas leak in the winter and there were problems with the pressure. Eventually he helped us get the boiler going, phew!
Then we unpacked ourselves, and I sighed at the number of things which I had forgotten. Ho hum.
Glad you've had a drop of rain, AQ!
Lindy: such is the way of life - we have all been there!!!
The sky didn’t fall, a mere 6.6 mm of rain. Strong gusty winds all night and still blowing. I have to go out later to pre-tour meeting for the 8-day bus trip in & around Albury leaving end of April,
ForestBoar - Sorry to hear about your SD. Some cancer treatments are hormonal, as the hormones can stimulate the growth of the malignant cells: my Other Half had female hormones injected into him for this reason, when he had prostate cancer. He developed hot flushes which lasted for a long time afterwards! But it was a temporary treatment in his case.
AQ - Hope you can get to your pre tour meeting.
Falling into bed, weary!!
Evening all: No whales at all during my shift today. There is a lull at some point; this must be that point!
Forestboar: Wish you guys could get an extended period with less anxiety. Sending best wishes for that your way.
Lindybird: Enjoy the weekend. Seems like you were just closing down the caravan for the weekend.
OG: How many people does the fish plant employ? Do you have a local fleet that supplies it? I can imagine that would be distressing for those who might be affected; still as you say, perhaps it's too early to speculate....
AQ: Oh good, you're off on a trip. Me too ....
I'm off to the UK to see my sister, who was very ill last year but is doing very well this year. I did see her last September and was determined to go back again this Spring. So I'm off on the 21st. I don't plan to stay too long as she and BiL are about to put their house on the market. They want to move closer to their kids, near Milton Keynes. I expect (hope!) to help them do some sorting and packing. I'll then fly home via Chicago and take the train (always an adventure in the U.S.!) across the northern states, including North Dakota, Montana, Idaho and dWashington state, where I'll stop in Seattle for a day or two to visit an old friend who's going through a bad time right now). Then I'll fly back directly to Santa Barbara and should be home the first week in May.
Meanwhile, lots to do before I go.
Have a good Saturday everyone.
Good morning all
Forestboar, It will be for the best, eldest stepdaughter's induced menopause. Glad to hear happier news about your youngest S/D and the house.
ANNETTE - You won't be away for long but so good to see your sister :-) Sorry about the whale no show -
AQ - Love hearing about your ?adventures with the young ones. I agree with others - where has the time gone? I bet you're looking forward to the next trip -
OG - seems that you are feeling better, thank goodness. Youngest daughter is still tiring easily. Whatever she had - it was a nasty one!
Busy day here, youngest son in law's 40th party - about 35 folk expected. I don't have to do too much in the kitchen but must away and get the house vacuumed and bathrooms cleaned.
I had a pleasant time in Denmark - but as always, glad to be home. Had a confrontation with a young and very drunk guy on the ferry over to Amsterdam. He threw a lit cigarette in my direction, could hardly stand. I gave him what for!!!
Good Morning. Overslept this morning, but my OH left me in bed as we have both been tired. I think I have his cold now, too. :-(
Annette - Worrying for you, when your sister lives at such a distance, too. Have a good journey over - we have some warmer weather predicted for the coming days so maybe you won't find it too wintery when you arrive! You have quite a long trip planned, hope it all goes well. {HUGS}
Heather, see you've been on whilst I was posting (I was interrupted by my OH about decisions on his maintenance regime - the birds have left us lots of yuk on our railings, and he's just found that the outside tap has seized up and will have to be replaced).
It's always good to be home, even if you enjoy yourself on your travels. I'm sure you'll enjoy the party, nice not to have the catering to worry about!
