WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, MARCH 25 2018

Evening all:  Good turnout at the march today, although here in California (and especially Santa Barbara) protesters are mostly preaching to the choir.  We heard short but good speeches from some young people and teachers from local schools and colleges.  It's great to see young people so energized. Those kids from the Florida high school have really started something.  Lots of calls for voting preregistration as many of them will vote for the first time in 2020.

Lindybird: Hope the baby pigeons survive this year.

Clare: Some beautiful markings on that bird. Congrats on finally spotting it.

Very springlike here today; must get into the garden tomorrow: The weeds are feeling entirely too self-confident and I have some salvia to plant while the soil is still nice and damp.

Hope things are better with Forestboar.....  Also that OG has a good ride back from the festivities.

Take care everyone.

  • lindy     lovely colourful pics.

  • Pleased you've all enjoyed them.  More to come, another time!

  • Super pics, LINDY. Like the idea of Fuertoventura, I never fell in love with Tenerife.

DIANE- I listened to the first episode! Unfortunately my Kindle, even at full volume, is a little hard for me to hear. I'm aware that my hearing is deteriorating, such a pain. I'll try again with OHs Kindle but don't think the problem lies with the device....

  • Heather: Would it help to use headphones or earbuds? I can empathize. I'm having some trouble with my hearing. I don't know whether it's permanent or the result of infection. My niece called me, and I really struggled to understand her. She's never spoken clearly, and my cell phone signal is always bad here in the woods. She's going through a hard time right now, so I wanted to be fully engaged in the conversation, but I was just not hearing everything she was saying. As a child, she had some speech therapy, so it wasn't all due to my hearing issues (she mumbles and doesn't enunciate). But I've been having trouble hearing other people and turning up my computer speakers. :-(

  • Lindy: Your photos are beautiful. I love those fish!

  • DIANE- I use earbuds :-( I can remember one of the medics that I worked with, years ago, talking about presbycusis and having to tell me what it was, since I'd missed that information as a nursing student!

  • Morning all:

Lindybird: Do not breathe a word about this new apartment (sleeps 5!!!!) to anyone who you wouldn't want to invite themselves (Awful Cousin, etc) to visit you there!    I would tell AC you've booked a cruise and are hosting other out-of-town guests during her visit and suggest you strongly encourage SiL to leave town.  I had to smile at the thought of SiL with new fences and was thinking she could probably do with a drawbridge to keep AC away!    I also spent very little on myself when daughter was young and money was always tight; unfortunately, it's become a hard habit to break.  I have a hard time buying clothes at charity shops as I grew up in them and always felt so self-conscious (as if anyone knew!).  Thank heaven Marshall's and TJMaxx carry some nice things, but really, I live in gardening and gym clothes these days....     Just found your holiday pix:  I see the dragon guy has his donation buckets out?  I LOVE those murals!  (Have never heard them called "murials.")   And the fishes.  :-))

PatO: I was asking myself the same question about English fry-ups.

OG: We are going broke with bird food and I'm whipping up batches of sugar water for the hummingbirds every few days.  The latter are very aggressive with each other and I've felt my hair rise up more than once as one or more of them has zoomed by really really close. The buzzing of their wings is a constant background noise on the patio.  :-))   I was thinking how nice it was of grandson to send photo links while likely on his honeymoon. Hope the vehicle adjustments went smoothly and didn't cause EE more angst.

Diane: Ear problems could be plain old waxy buildup?

OK, stuff to do so off I go.....

  • OH had alterations made per his solutions to my requirements and was ready to set out home around lunchtime - is therefor here while J is at his twilight training - which is apparently unpopular with most staff!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • A training session held at the end of the working day - when the kids have departed.
