Evening all: Good turnout at the march today, although here in California (and especially Santa Barbara) protesters are mostly preaching to the choir. We heard short but good speeches from some young people and teachers from local schools and colleges. It's great to see young people so energized. Those kids from the Florida high school have really started something. Lots of calls for voting preregistration as many of them will vote for the first time in 2020.
Lindybird: Hope the baby pigeons survive this year.
Clare: Some beautiful markings on that bird. Congrats on finally spotting it.
Very springlike here today; must get into the garden tomorrow: The weeds are feeling entirely too self-confident and I have some salvia to plant while the soil is still nice and damp.
Hope things are better with Forestboar..... Also that OG has a good ride back from the festivities.
Take care everyone.
Wonderful, FB!
Good news, FB - worth doing without younger D's help for news like that!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Chris posted a new Blog earlier today.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Lindybird said:I was disappointed this morning to find that the Site which I have been plundering for some animal/bird/nature photos has now been taken down and archived, so there will only be the occasional pic from me on the Chat Page in future. :-(
I'm trying to picture your OH giving the lawn a haircut and all I'm seeing is a huge pair of scissors!
OG-So sorry to read about your bad experience trying to go to your grandson's wedding. Should not have happened. Glad you and J are recovering.
Good news, FB. Thank you for letting us know.
GEORGE- good to hear from you, as always!
ANNETTE- did you get the salvias planted?
Youngest son in law has had his pork chops and roast potatoes, veg etc. I am enjoying having him here but think that his job in Invergordon will finish on Wednesday.
Annette and maybe Heather and others: On NPR (National Public Radio), they were interviewing the author of this new podcast. She's a bestselling author of fiction novels, and she's produced this new kind of fiction podcast. I thought you might like it, Annette. I also thought Heather may be interested because the story takes place in Inverness, Scotland.
I haven't listened to this one yet, so it might be absolutely awful, but it's FREE so there's nothing to lose. You have to click "SHOW ALL EPISODES" and then scroll down to start from the beginning.
Also, Annette. On that same Panoply website, I also like the Intercepted podcasts produced by Glenn Greenwald and Jeremy Scahill. You can click on the Shows tab and click a subject to see other FREE podcasts. Heather, you might like to listen to the other podcasts on the website on nights that you can't sleep.
After a burst of heat last week which left me droopy & lethargic, I am catching up on chores & shopping with temps down to mid-20s. Snaffled a pair of new season’s winter slacks and a lightweight jumper. My previous tame “rag” shop closed down and I am feeling pleased I found another, even if it is way across the suburbs. Previous one was close enough to drop by whenever I had spare time. Last Sunday’s bus trip very good. Photos eventually.
Evening all:
George: I've obviously lost the plot re "who will the daddy be".......
Heather: Yes indeed! Salvias in and irrigation connected but I've ended up with an extra hole for yet one more.
AQ: I was thinking there was an outing in there somewhere. Too bad about your neighborhood "rag" store. How nice you've cooler weather ahead; we're gearing up for the summer, though we still have May Gray and June Gloom to go.
Diane: I just subscribed to The Walk; not sure when I'll have a chance to listen, but it's on my iTunes page. Haven't heard any of the Intercept programs; will take a look.... Tx for the links.
Still futzing with my new laptop; so many bells and whisles to disable.
Have a good Tuesday everyone.
Good Morning. Drizzly and grey here, which is why my OH opted to play golf yesterday instead. He compared holiday notes with his best golfing partner, who had just come back from a trip to Guernsey.
Annette --- Good that you got some gardening done. I think George was referring to EJ and her possible suitors....... Hope you can get to grips with the new laptop.
Heather - "Chops and roasters" sounds like a great place to be in digs!
Diane - Hope the snow is receding where you are.
OG - Expect you're busy getting back on track at home now that you're back. Hope you're all OK.
