Evening all: Good turnout at the march today, although here in California (and especially Santa Barbara) protesters are mostly preaching to the choir. We heard short but good speeches from some young people and teachers from local schools and colleges. It's great to see young people so energized. Those kids from the Florida high school have really started something. Lots of calls for voting preregistration as many of them will vote for the first time in 2020.
Lindybird: Hope the baby pigeons survive this year.
Clare: Some beautiful markings on that bird. Congrats on finally spotting it.
Very springlike here today; must get into the garden tomorrow: The weeds are feeling entirely too self-confident and I have some salvia to plant while the soil is still nice and damp.
Hope things are better with Forestboar..... Also that OG has a good ride back from the festivities.
Take care everyone.
BTW, J is almost back to normal today - I am still very shaken. Nice weather today, so some beginnings of gardening are happening. Seeds are up in the cold frames.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Glad to hear that J is almost OK. I hope that you feel better soon, OG. My youngest daughter has suffered from anxiety/panic attacks all her adult life and it has been and is very incapacitating for her and her family. She challenges her fears on a daily basis but it is all very exhausting. Sometimes she would rather stay in bed and pull the duvet over her head, she says.
On a more cheerful note, have been shopping for youngest son in law's meals for the next few days. Pork chops tomorrow.
The weather doesn't look too good for next week. Roses have buds, ditto camellia. Nothing else showing, a very slow start in the garden.
OG: that is an experience we have had more than once. Its why we don't stay at Hotels. The only Hotel we discovered online is one in Bangor which specifically specialises in severely disabled with hoists etc to Changing Places specification. When we go out anywhere for some time we now always check for Changing Places toilets in the vicinity or we don't go.
Sorry for all your messed up plans.
OG - so sorry to hear about your hotel problems. A horrible experience for all three of you. And so sorry you didn't get to the wedding. I do hope you are all more or less back to normal now, and glad to be back in your own home. Good that you have some better weather and the prospect of time in your garden.
Annette - thanks for starting us off. I really feel that there should be a ban on people owning guns over there for everyday use so to speak. Obviously one would have to take into account re hunters.!!!! Well done the young people for rallying round and protesting etc.
Snap Lindybird - our youngest - dau - 41 and still living at home as she can't afford to buy a place of her own, you still worry about them.
FB - do hope SD begins to make a steady recovery even though it may take some time.

FB - At least they are doing all they can to get her well.
OG - Oh dear a bit of a fiasco then. Did you not get to the wedding at all, what a shame. Glad to hear you are all now safely home.
Thanks for all news. Not a lot going on here, just the usual routine.
OG: Gosh, that really does sound like a nightmare - and you didn't even get to the wedding! I also didn't realize J suffered panic attacks (does he hate heights or is it just unfamiliar situations?). As you said, at least you got to see the groom.
Forestboar: Good that SD's white blood count is only slightly elevate and they should be able to get those blood clots sorted, Fingers crossed she'll be back home soon. Take care!
Hope AQ is enjoying some cool temperatures down under.
Have a good Monday everyone.
Good morning, all - it promises to be another beautiful day here.
The more I read back on OG's aborted attempt to do something as simple as attending a wedding the more I'm staggered that there are so many barriers to anyone with a serious disablement. This is the 21st century, for goodness' sake - disabled people should be able to go wherever they need and want to when it comes to man-made structures. I'm absolutely gutted she ended up missing a looked-forward to family event through no fault of her own.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
