The purpose of this thread is to record the day-to-day activity at the Manton Bay nest thus freeing up the Rutland Osprey Project 2018 thread for general news on all the other birds, nests and projects.
Details about the Manton Bay nest, including a table of the breeding data, can be found here.
Last year we were thrilled to see both Maya and Blue 33(11) return within hours of each other on the 22 March and I am sure I speak for us all in wishing them both a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
Morning all - thanks for all the updates.
Sandra and Ann - thanks for your posts on how you got involved - most enjoyable reading:-)
Scylla - you have been busy! Thank you for all those lovely captures.
Maya had left but has again returned with a small clump of nesting material.

She is still on the nest as I type

What a moment that was and never to be forgotten LOL
It was April 2015 and here is the link to the blog Skiing with stick however so very disappointing to see that the pictures are no longer accessible!
But thank goodness we have Scylla who marvellously captured the moment!
Here is the link to Scylla post 8 April 2015 showing a collection of captures of 33 with his sticks and I am sure she will not mind me posting "the" one that will be stuck in our minds forever LOL

Yes, another one of my favourite captures of Blue 33(11)
She brought a clump @ 0739hr:
Put it in the nestcup:
Hung around a couple of minutes and flew off:
Next visit she brought some soft stuff:
She left it trailing over the sticks, then picked up a lump of something and plonked it while she nestcupped:
Then she flew off with the "lump":
Returned pretending to hold a stick:
Scratched an itch, but that doesn't show up well for a snap, then, I think, flew up to perch:
It's more obvious on the other cam:
Not sure if any tiny thing could have been in her talons next time:
She didn't do much, off she went to fly around the bay (possibly):
Back with another piece of soft stuff, which she laid near the first:
Got slightly buzzed:
By this bird:
Off again!
Perversely, I've been glancing anxiously over at the cams hoping she'd stay absent so I could finish (pics are uploading very slowly)... but she's back !!!

Always feel free, Karen :)
EDIT - Funnily enough, I was remembering that, last year I think, I added "stilts" to the title of the video so's to find it more easily.
Maya just flew off again, let's see if she did anything fascinating (besides be a beautiful osprey)...
Oh, she's back again !!!
Must have breakfast.
Lovely captures, thanks Scylla
Maya has been on the nest for a wee while now ... just waiting as we are on Blue 33

Housework suffering already!
The next two visits brought more soft nest material:
A long watch-n-wait followed this:
