The purpose of this thread is to record the day-to-day activity at the Manton Bay nest thus freeing up the Rutland Osprey Project 2018 thread for general news on all the other birds, nests and projects.
Details about the Manton Bay nest, including a table of the breeding data, can be found here.
Last year we were thrilled to see both Maya and Blue 33(11) return within hours of each other on the 22 March and I am sure I speak for us all in wishing them both a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
Wow - fantastic news! Just arrived back with a fish!
Did you see her Jane? And you could not have timed it better
She is back with a whopper

Its still living !
Good looking fish at that. Ian
I am so trying to get a capture of the X on her head
It is fantastic to see her ... I wonder if 33(11) will follow!

Ha Ha Karen, I bet you couldn't believe it, especially this early.... A few years ago I was watching as she arrived back, its that feeling of disbelief when you see them on the nest for the first time.
Thanks for the video Alan, that was some size of a fish she caught, I think that will keep her occupied for a few hours. :-)
Hats off to Rutland for being prepared and having the Webcam switched on, was it sixth sense on their behalf, or maybe Maya sent them a tweet LOL....
MAYA the record breaker. :D

Yes Mary, pure disbelief was exactly the feeling. So unexpected!
I am sure I remember the year you saw Maya - first thing in the morning it was?? I bet the tea and toast went flying LOL
But wonderful to see her safely home and I have a feeling that it won't be too long until we see 33!
The monitoring hasn't started at Rutland yet - she has caught us all out! Very pleased to see her back. Come on 33, the missus is waiting for you!

She has indeed!
Anyway nice to see you posting Sandra:-) Are you by any chance volunteering again this year? I seem to recall you did so quite early in the season last year?
Wasnt expecting to see this news already.....fantastic :-)
