  • Enjoy Ruby, LINDY!

I wonder how OG is, she said that they were both very tired and half the previous month had been taken up by medical appointments.

  • Hello Heather - and all!  The deed is done!  Over the last few days, we have made decisions and drastically pruned our church responsibilities, with all the necessary letters, emails etc to inform people.  We have reverted to just the original commitment to Communications (OH looking after Website and other online content, and me editing the monthly Newsletter).  We originally offered these as being able to do them at home - apart from an hour or so on the church copier for printing the newsletter.  Since then, we have been dragged into meetings which are so frustrating after our many years of previous experience, and unnecessarily time-consuming.

I think I have mentioned before that my cataract follow-up last Friday was short, and we were able to take time out for a garden centre snack - and the purchase of a wheelbarrow.  We both feel more relaxed, OH is looking less stressed and I have even started sleeping longer - up to four hours from the previous max 2!  Not sure how well we shall sleep tonight as the new bedroom carpet was laid this morning, causing various itches, sneezes, nose-bleeds and coughs.  We are however very pleased with the total new look in the bedroom.

A domestic and shopping catch-up tomorrow, then back to the painting in the study, before it and the hallway get their carpets in two weeks time.  I had taken over the washing up (non-machine items) but have been getting really bad leg pain, so am going to drop it for a day or two to see whether I am any better - but we've got to find some things I can actually do!

Been reading your posts, but will still be restricted on computer access during changes in the study, so won't resume replies yet.  Best wishes to all.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Congrats OG on culling your responsibilities. It is so easy to take on or be expected to do more and more. A slower pace and doing what You want will be enjoyable.

    .

Hot sleepless night here. Already by 8.30 am 30 C with 20% humidity. Yesterday was only 8%. I must drink more water today.

  • OG -- So pleased to hear that you're taking on less outside responsibilities, both of you. AQ is right - you can easily find that you will be put upon more and more if you don't put your foot down over taking it on. Sorry, rambling a bit as it's so late.... we stayed up, watching a recording of The Royal Wedding programme which was fascinating. HM The Queens wedding, that is, now that they're getting ready to celebrate 70 years of marriage. What an achievement!

Sorry that you've had so much leg pain. Hopefully it will cease if you can rest it for a while. You do sound as if you're doing a lot, and you're still recovering, you know! (Smacks wrist.....)

AQ -  That sounds soo hot. So opposite to here, where we've had snow in Scotland and a biting cold wind over all of UK. My warm vests have come out again, and tights are on legs, plus I need to find my driving gloves as my hands start to seize up at the wheel!

  • Evening all:

OG: Congrats on reducing the church commitments. I hope you hinted at the frustrations with all the inconclusive meetings, etc.  Hope your leg improves with less standing; that you managed to get some sleep with that new carpeting, and that the painting goes well.

AQ: Heartfelt sympathy with those high temperatures - and that humitidy!  Ugh.

Battery in my wireless mouse seems to have gone kaput and am having to use the touchpad, which I absolutely hate, so no sticking around long this evening.

    Have a good Tuesday all.

  • Good  Morning.  Hope that OG and EE both slept well. That new carpet smell makes me sneeze, too.

  • Today's pic:

Australian Magpie, according to the tag on this.

  • Good morning - thanks for all the helpful thoughts.

AQ - sorry it is so hot - and I was complaining about 12 degrees at 4:00aam - too much of a contrast after freezing the previous three nights!

LINDA - yes, I know but I keep forgetting I was told it could take me up to two years to recover - "at my age" - no wonder I prefer to forget!

ANNETTE - forget the mouse and concentrate on enjoying the family!

Well we slept well enough to start with - didn't wake until nearly 2:30.  By 4 o'clock we were in the dining room with toast and coffee - with some lovely honey on the toast!  Some of my inflamed skin has developed a wicked-looking rash, so washed off all traces of prescribed cream and smothered it with just emollient.  This calmed it down and we slept till 6:30.  Now going to have breakfast.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • OG - I could get violent when medical people say "at your age". My motto is to "wear out not rust out".

Yeay Linda, we have a White backed magpie visiting our front lawn.

  • The magpie call I like goes "carol carol carol"
