WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, AUGUST 6,2017

Lindybird: I love the idea of the Country Living tent - I could probably do a lot of $$$ damage there!

ForestBoar:  Thanks for clarifying. Hope daughter can move there sooner than later.

Lynette: Ghastly situation for your bro with contractors peering in the windows.  What a nerve!!  My niece is going to Dorset (I had to Google Durdle Door) within the next couple of weeks with friends to look for fossils (they apparently got the correct tools after a previous trip!).  I read Remarkable Creatures and loved it. I thought they were going to make a movie of it, but haven't been able to find if it was actually made. Love the idea of an ice cream farm!  :-)

Take care all.

  • Weather improved greatly, so some time spent in the garden, both sitting and working.  I never did like the idea of cucumber soup, so still searching!  Wish we could freeze them as we so with courgettes, but then what ... so no point trying.

DIBNLIB - sounds like a good weekend planned - enjoy the cars at Brodie.

HEATHER - I don't like courgette soup, but happy to have them in minestrone with everything else, and no problem using them through the year in casseroles, or just cooked as a veg in (also from freezer) tomato sauce.  Nice for you to see Callum when he comes for car cleaning and chocolate bars!  Good that you let the young tourist have all the floating money!

OH is making a "Hash" for tea (not making a hash of tea!) as we wanted a non-salad meal.  Beginning to smell tempting!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • OG best use for cucumber is in a lovely glass of Hendricks gin and Fever Few tonic..

Well I have to support a locally produced product:-)

  • WENDY - have you tried Caorunn gin? I'm not a whisky drinker but exercised my shareholder rights (!) in son's whisky shop. I got a bottle of Edradour 15yo Fairy Flag. I'm told that it is very nice indeed.

  • WENDY    good idea.

HEATHER     pennies from heaven....or should that be pounds from heaven.   Lucky tourist and as OG said, very kind of you.

Golf tournament at the 2  Nairn courses this week. It is for the worlds best young amateur boys and has been won by the likes of Mcilroy, Seve and Olazabal in the past. If the weather is kind we will pop along on Tuesday.  Friends birthday on Thurs so that will be lunch out for a few of us at a pub in Ardersier, where the soup is highly recommended.

  • HEATHER   Agree, Caorunn gin is very good and great that it is local. I have a friend who is a bit of a gin connoisseur and it is her favourite.

  • Heather yes I have and it's a big "0" birthday at the end of the month..

Youngest is up so the 3 of us are booked on the gin tour.

So relieved you don't actually go in the distillery as a bit bored with all that after 5 years of guiding:-)

  • Had a delish salad for supper. Salad leaves topped with stilton, walnuts and orange segments, with a walnut oil and orange juice dressing.

  • My youngest son in law prefers it to wine :-) That is if he is in the mood for a tipple and isn't planning any driving. It also sells very well in my son's shop in Shropshire. He sells gin and fancy beers as well as whisky.

WENDY - I'm almost ashamed to tell you that he sells a couple of Japanese whiskies, also.

    That salad sounds lovely, DIBNLIB
  • Can see why you prefer not to do the tour, WENDY.

  • I think at long last distilleries having realised it doesn't matter how well you market whisky it's not always a ladies first choice...hence the number of bespoke gins on the market ...

My girls and I took Inchriach 53%navy gin away. Very local and Walter who makes it is such a character ..

My girls also go to gin festivals which also seem popular.

Cold here fire lit and Daisy is fast asleep luxuriating:-)
