Lindybird: I love the idea of the Country Living tent - I could probably do a lot of $$$ damage there!
ForestBoar: Thanks for clarifying. Hope daughter can move there sooner than later.
Lynette: Ghastly situation for your bro with contractors peering in the windows. What a nerve!! My niece is going to Dorset (I had to Google Durdle Door) within the next couple of weeks with friends to look for fossils (they apparently got the correct tools after a previous trip!). I read Remarkable Creatures and loved it. I thought they were going to make a movie of it, but haven't been able to find if it was actually made. Love the idea of an ice cream farm! :-)
Take care all.
FORESTBOAR Safe journey, have a great time.
Enjoy your well earned rests, ForestBoar - I'm sure you deserve it. Glad you finally reached the end of all that arranging!
Will have to catch up tomorrow when I'm safely tucked in the hotel in Palm Desert en route to AZ.
Good Morning. Dull skies here. Don't know if the clouds will clear in time for us to see the meteor shower this evening.
Annette, you've had a busy time lately. Have a safe journey, and enjoy seeing your family.
Today's pic:
Llamas and alpacas -- but not sure where this beautiful mountain is!
Off out to buy grub - bought lots in Sainsbugs yesterday, but we still need tomatoes and bread....
Our Eldest and Wife are excitedly going to be in the London Olympic Stadium tonight - I hope they get to see Mo, and Usain Bolt. Little Amber will be staying with her other Grandma, and being spoilt ;-)
Early morning rain - as per forecast. Continuing drizzle - not forecast. But I see a golden orb trying to push its face through the cloud - feeling hopeful!
Safe journey, ANNETTE! Get a good sleep at your overnights stop. Is Daughter travelling with you?
LINDA - lovely pic from ?the Andes. Wonder what they were all watching as they lined up there? We are still enjoying greenhouse tomatoes, although they have started getting smaller (okay by me) and fewer (not so okay!) Current glut is Cucumbers - any tips? I considered pickling, but think I would be the only one to eat them.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
OG -- there was a tag on the photo, saying "Llamas & Alpacas in a herd" but not where they are! But I was glad it did as I might have thought they were just llamas!
Our tomatoes are only just ripening, a bit late really, but maybe they needed more sun! We don't grow courgette or cucumbers as we'd never eat them all. Maybe you could make a delish cucumber soup?
The plum tree is weighed down with fruit, just on the point of needing picking. We're eating some meat out of the freezer tonight, to make room for all the ones I shall want to freeze. We just wash, halve and destone them, then pack them in useful sizes for puds, in plastic bags.
Had my 6th swim of the week this morning. Tomorrow will definitely be a rest day. We will probably walk at Dochgarroch in the morning and in the afternoon we plan on going to Brodie Castle to see the vintage cars. Hope the weather is good.
ANNETTE - safe journey to AZ. Assume you are taking daughter home?
OG - My tomatoes are only just turning. I have stripped some of the leaves, I remember my OH doing that, so that the sun could get to the fruit.( What sun). Regarding cucumber, if you don't like gazpacho or similar, I can't think of anything. OH didn't rate cucumbers or courgettes, he thought they were just water bombs... I like cucumber but it doesn't like me. Eldest daughter makes courgette and mint soup.
LINDY - Plums here are still green. They are Victorias, so a dessert plum. I find that in crumbles, they are just too sweet for my taste. I have also made chutney and jam with them, but again, I think that damsons or similar are better for cooking. We give loads of plums and greengages away to family and neighbours.
Callum is on his way here, to wash and vacuum his car. Coke and chocolate bars all here ready for him. Seems he needs sustenance every hour....
I found money floating about yesterday, crossing the main bridge in town, a very windy day. I picked up some 10 and five pound notes, a youngish foreign tourist was also picking up. We looked around and then I told him to run and ask people around and about of us if it was theirs. No one claimed it and goodness knows how many miles away the nearest police station is. So the tourist has a bit more pocket money for his holiday.
