There's a nest in Ontario, Canada, west of Toronto that lost its female June 18. The male has stepped up to care for the 2 chicks (16 and 14 days old) by himself. Belwood Lake and Grand River - assuming those are his fishing grounds - look to be practically on the doorstep of the nest.
So far, so good...obviously a very fragile situation, but is it unheard of for a single parent to raise chicks from this stage to fledging?

Just looked into this nest and the chicks seem to be struggling with the heat - in particular the smaller one. The male landed briefly.
The weather has been mostly sunny with a temperature of around 22C/72F. Luther stayed on the nest for awhile to shade the chicks, and has left again at 1:25pm.
A relaxing time on the nest, preening and stretching. Don't miss the synchronized moves at :08!

Nice to see a different view of the nest Tiger. I had seen them live yesterday going over to the edge of the nest so that video may have been at the same time :-)
It looks like it is raining heavily at the moment, both are lying close to each other in the centre of the nest. Hope the rain stops soon.
