WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, JUNE 11, 2017

Happy New Week all.  Check back for the last of last week's posts.

  • Late posting today as we had the power off while electrician changed the connections on the garage circuit - no problems and finished in half the estimated time (wonder whether the bill will show a reduction?)

HEATHER - I hope your Brother's Husky will be okay - definitely sounds like "heat-stroke".  I won't go into detail on the POA as the Scottish and English systems vary slightly, but the time taken is due to registering in Edinburgh.  Knowing where your road goes through, I imagine it is a bit of a "rat -run" in the rush hour.  Sorry about your SiL's job uncertainty - it is hard for young families.

LYNETTE - I hope you didn't do any damage leaving the boot off your foot - do take care!

LINDA - we are on the edge of a small town, but there are several local convenience stores on various estates and other shops in the town.  There is a medium size Tesco on the edge of town, but for bigger shops we are equidistant from Dumfries and Carlisle.  Our biggest complaint currently is that our local delicatessen/specialist grocer has started selling his bacon (and some other items) pre-packed rather than loose, and stopped some of his specialist items too.  Non-food items mostly come by online ordering, although we do have a couple of hardware shops which are useful for "bits and bobs".

Weather today is variable, but more dry than wet!  One shower this morning was very sudden and heavy, and there is quite a stiff breeze again - but warm.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Yes, OG, it is a rat run.... I'm used to it, though!

  • We had a beautiful afternoon, although there was no time to appreciate it as the car we share has been in the garage, being investigated since yesterday. I can't drive the Very Old Car. Too heavy!  So as I needed shopping ready for our families visit this weekend, my OH drove me to nearby town, where we threw a bag of 'bits' towards the charity shop, ran in & out of M&S, then around Sainsbugs.

Got home hot & tired. My OH had also already run down to the chemist for me, as my prescriptions were running out. They never seem to be ready with the next lot until I'm down to the last two days, and desperate.

  • LINDY- I empathise re the prescriptions.

  • My brother's husky dog is a bit better but the weather there continues to be extremely warm. Apparently my sis in law slept on the sofa last night because upstairs (dormer house) was so hot.

  • Good Morning, All.  Just seen the forecast for the hot weather.  Could be record breaking in countries to the south of us, so expect a lot of dogs and people, too, will suffer.

Must get  going as our Eldest arrives this evening with wife and little Amber. Have a good day, everyone.

  • Here's today's pic:

    "We're ready for anything!"

  • LINDY, hope that you have a lovely time with Amber (and her parents!)

  • I have received a very nice hand written apology from the hospital consultant who thought that I hadn't paid his bill.

  • Communications problems here - phone line very faulty, broadband expected to go too.  Big hole in high street probably significant to this!

Old deck being demolished right now - yay!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
