It goes to show how vulnerable a nest can be without an established pair's vigilance. Yet another Blue Ring intruder appeared --- Blue HS8 --- who is a three year old female from the Isle of Bute. Though EJ defended the nest, we saw no talons yesterday. But we also did not see the unringed male either. Was he just passing through? Should we be disappointed, or relieved? Just as a reminder, this may be a good time to revisit the Odin thread. Sad nest. :'-(© RSPB - Loch Garten and Carnyx Wild

Female on the nest chirping protests weakly. I can't tell if it's EJ or another female, she looks so pale.. yet it must be EJ ???

Here's EJ chirping alarms, sound is muffled due to a waterlogged mic.

Thank you Clarre, Limpy Mike and Karen.
All quiet except wind on a waterlogged mic.
Happy Birthday Moffer. Have a lovely day.
Who said there hadn't been a male around yesterday? Well, we have one early today. I suppose it is about time a male brought EJ a fish. Would that behaviour still happen even though the mating season is over?
Good morning every one, and a very happy birthday to you Moffer!
Always wary of looking in for fear of what I might find (regarding poor dear EJ!) I also think shes a formidable lady to put up with too much! Its such a joy to see her :) Still hoping for dear Odin to show up :)
