HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY EASTER (to those who celebrate the holiday).

It was 80 F or 26.6 C here today. Very warm. The grass is growing like crazy, and I don't have time to mow right now!

Welcome home to AQ. I'm sending my best wishes to OG and to Eagle-Eye. I so hope she can get out of the hospital SOON!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful week.

  • Good Morning, All.  Sunny through my window today! Must look for things to launder.....

Thanks for more of your travel journal, AQ.  You do have a lot of historical buildings, still. Sorry you're both still suffering, it's rotten when it lingers. My OH was rather deaf for ages after his last snuffle.

Is anyone in UK already bored with all the Election discussion?  Thankfully, it's only for a few weeks, but some of the journalists sound almost joyful that there is so much to jaw over.

LINDY   Please let me know what you think about the film. We may give it another go if it moves to a larger screen. Yesterday it was in the smallest of 8 and OH really couldn't cope when they showed a trailer of "Andre Rieu" and the sound was excruciating.

Dibnlib:  I don't know about you, but we've found that the trailers they show before the actual feature are invariably loud.  Sometimes I put my fingers in my ears for a while!

  • Here's today's pic:

    "What is an election?"

  • Fed up with the election?  YES, YES, YES!!!!  I'm now dreading the time when the politicians start tearing chunks out of each other (metaphorically rather than literally).  I will be in Scotland on 'the day', so will have to sort out a postal vote.  I imagine election fever will be quite unpleasant there as well.

AQ - I'm finding your travelogue really fascinating.  I don't know a lot about Australian geography or history, but your descriptions of buildings (particularly churches) and mining areas bring it all to life.  Thank you so much for sharing.

Very best wishes to all who are struggling in any way.  Special thoughts to Heather and OG/EE.

  • Morning all:

AQ:  Didn't realize those towns had such easy access to Melbourne (should've zoomed out on Google Earth!). That Fryerstown church and the grounds are lovely - but pesky realtors, playing coy with prices!  Tsk. I noted the Christian's Orchard reference, but was wondering if Oz and the US West Coast (at least in California) shared the same "history" where some cattle and sheep ranchers made their first $$$s in those businesses and then created amazing gardens around their houses, planting trees, shrubs, etc., from all over the Pacific Rim and beyond, sold/traded by ship captains who plied the Pacific in the mid-to-late 1800s.  That's how Moreton Bay Figs arrived here - they're now much-appreciated specimen trees in many California Coastal communities. We have a fabulous one by the Amtrak Station in Santa Barbara and just up the coast there's an old ranch that has a whole avenue of them leading from the house all the way down to the beach.  Hope you and OH do better over the weekend.

Lindybird: Had a hoot at the iea of Brits being tired of the election already - at least yours don't go on for entire decades!  :-)   Cute photo.

    Hi to PatO and dibnlib.

Off to make a stand for Science!  :-)

  • Annette:   I thought of you poor people in the US of A when I wrote that!!  Soo long for you to listen to all the arguments.....

We have had a beautiful day here, so I filled the line with stuff, unfortunately now its mostly in the dreaded ironing basket. All the trees are bursting with green leaves and blossoms, so spring really has sprung, in spite of there having been some quite cold nights.  A cold snap forecast for next week, though, especially night time temps so that may affect some of the fruit trees.
