Egg #2 presented to us yesterday, which was otherwise a day of nuisances - corvids (I'm told Ravens, not Crows) and nest materials both contributing - the wind apologised and, displaying sincerity, blew that dang twiggy branch right off o' the nest.
Golden Girl:
(Actually a marmelised Moffer snap.)
Tonight EJ has been watchful but there have been no disturbances of note.
IMAGICAT
EJ shuffles around for a different view. Still quiet
Birdie Num Num's brilliant DU summary 2017
EJ is calling. Odin lands, fishless, but with a clump of brown ???
off he goes
and flies over the nest.
He is in sight. EJ is calling for fish.
He just brought a clump - not a huge one.
She's up and flown.
Here comes Odin.
EJ is back screaming for fish.
Has she had any fish at all today? :-(
Tiger's Osprey News
Have just popped in to find Odin incubating and EJ on the rim having a long "conversation" with him! :)
No fish yet today for EJ, despite her many and very loud requests. :o(
He flies off only to return to attempt mating while EJ is trying to settle on the eggs! He's off again!!
17.13 Odin has finally had enough of the constant nagging
He circles around to mate (unsuccessful)
Good evening, all. Thanks for keeping us up to date with events! I loved the sequence where Odin 'encourages' EJ off the eggs just for a mating session - not to mention all those opportunities she was given to bite him on his fluffy white bottom! I really hope he's gone fishing, she hasn't eaten since yesterday evening.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
