HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY NEW MONTH!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!Welcome back, Odin!!!
Love them, LINDY. We have some of those but not as many as I would like.
Hi all! Discovered last night during power outage, that my 4G phone can come online without broadband. So OG and I can communicate from the hospital! She is having her afternoon one hour change of position on her bed, but otherwise sits in her chair most of the time. She is extremely bored but generally in good spirits. Still no date for consultant clinic appointment to authorise weight-bearing on her left leg. Physios are concentrating on strength-building exercises for both legs and her upper body. She is sitting here dictating this so you can see she is still in charge.
LINDY Thank you for all your wonderful pics. The kittens really made me smile.
HEATHER Can't remember if you told us where the whisky shop is.
My achilles problem is really giving grief, so feeling a little sorry for myself as I have had to curtail dog walking. My GP said that seeing a podiatrist may help so have put in a referral form and hope to get an appt in 4 - 6 weeks.
"She is sitting here dictating this so you can see she is still in charge."
EE I suspect that fact was never in doubt!!
Birdies LG DU update.
Great to hear from you, E-E! You must be weary, yourself, with visiting etc., although it sounds as if the hospital is nearby. I'm sure that OG will be thoroughly fed up, now. There are only so many hours you can read before your eyes get tired. At least you can communicate by phone.
Dibnlib - Sorry you're suffering, and worst of all, it's affecting your walking. You must be disappointed that its going to be weeks before you even get to see someone about it.
A lovely afternoon, here. Rang my Friend, who is busy this week with charitable works. We may meet later in the week.
Heard from friends (retired teachers) that a friend of theirs has started a charity to help train teachers in Zambia. My friends are off to help and will spend a couple of weeks there at the end of the month. I do hope they get a chance to see some wildlife. We had hoped to see them when we visit Mum at the end of the month, but they obviously won't be around. Still, we usually do manage to spend a couple of hours with them when we are up and down the A9 and last saw them less than a month ago.
Thanks LINDY, the heel is up and down and yesterday was particularly bad, today is somewhat better. At least I can still swim.
As I type Benson is snuggled up on OHs knee. He asks to be snuggled up every evening but doesn't get his way each time. I am sure that OH enjoys it as much as Benson. Think I am feeling left out!!!
Evening all:
Lindybird: I just love those shire horses - and those purple fritillaries are amazing.
EE: OG must be so frustrated about her garden (among other things). Any idea how long she's going to be in the hospital? :-( How are you and J holding up?
I got a gift certificate from granddaughter to popular new restaurant for Xmas, so OH and I are going to try it this evening. We figure early Tuesday it shouldn't be too noisy (it has a reputation for that).
Was on the Gray Whales website last night to see how the rest of Monday went and apparently the guys spotted a whale caught up in some god-awful contraption. It had been spotted over the weekend down south off San Clemente and rescuers hadn't been able to help it. Now our local rescuers will launch an attempt to disentangle it, but it does look awful.
I'm not a happy bunny. Engineer from Scottish Gas came yesterday and said there is nothing wrong with my boiler or the control panel. I've been awake since 4am listening to the boiler firing up every few minutes. The control panel light isn't on, boiler should not come on until 6.30 am. He said that there is a thermostat that brings the boiler on (to protect itself) in cold temps but it is nearly 8 degrees outside. Guess I'm going to have to phone them again. I feel such an ignorant fool......
Morning Heather: You are not expected to be a whiz at ancient boilers with balky thermostats/settings. Our thermostat consistently lies to us, telling us it's 78 when it's clearly nowhere near that, but it only does it in the evenings, which we can't figure out at all. I suppose you've tried pushing all available buttons... Do you have the instructions around anywhere? (Ha-ha - Like they'd help!). Sounds like the gasman reset something...
I'm off to bed. We had nice dinner out at new (fish) restaurant: Grilled Wild Alaskan Halibut with the most marvelous veggies stir-fried in Ginger Soy sauce, garlic, etc. Seriously Yummy. No desert. OH had some spicy shrimp/pasta concoction.
Take care everyone.
