The purpose of this thread is for recording the season’s day to day activity at the Manton Bay nest thus freeing up the Rutland Osprey Project 2017 thread for general news on all the other birds, nests and projects.
For anyone new following Manton Bay, Maya and Blue 33(11) have been the resident pair for the last two years and to date have raised six chicks. More details about the nest and a table of the breeding data can be found here. Last season Maya returned on the 21 March and Blue 33(11) arrived a few days later on the 27 March.

I am sure I speak for us all in wishing Maya and Blue 33(11) a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
More dynamic colours - I think Maya will lay today :-)

She very well could Mary! Excluding the 22nd, the day they returned, this is now the 9th day and if I recall right on which Maya has previously laid her first, so as of today, we are now on egg watch.
Another Mating which think usually increases just before egg laying - another tell tale sign!

33 then flew off, returned with a stick, off again and back with another. Now having a little scrape. He is off again.
33 is busy this morning, in the last few minutes I have seen him bring in 3 sticks and now is placing.
