The purpose of this thread is for recording the season’s day to day activity at the Manton Bay nest thus freeing up the Rutland Osprey Project 2017 thread for general news on all the other birds, nests and projects.
For anyone new following Manton Bay, Maya and Blue 33(11) have been the resident pair for the last two years and to date have raised six chicks. More details about the nest and a table of the breeding data can be found here. Last season Maya returned on the 21 March and Blue 33(11) arrived a few days later on the 27 March.

I am sure I speak for us all in wishing Maya and Blue 33(11) a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
All appears to have quietened down now.
I'm off out now ... happy viewing everyone. SYL
I was on the 6am to 9am shift today.

As I wrote that Maya, I think, took off but 33 just grooming

Came to nothing. A bird flew to the left across the front of the nest and after a few minutes, 33 and Maya have settled

Sandra, do you know if the EGs are still about or have they moved?
Captured this earlier. What a cheek 33 has but he does make us laugh :-D

Maya and 33 on the nest just enjoying each others company
The water looks amazingly blue when the sun shines and the sky is blue! They are still standing together.
