The purpose of this thread is for recording the season’s day to day activity at the Manton Bay nest thus freeing up the Rutland Osprey Project 2017 thread for general news on all the other birds, nests and projects.
For anyone new following Manton Bay, Maya and Blue 33(11) have been the resident pair for the last two years and to date have raised six chicks. More details about the nest and a table of the breeding data can be found here. Last season Maya returned on the 21 March and Blue 33(11) arrived a few days later on the 27 March.

I am sure I speak for us all in wishing Maya and Blue 33(11) a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
Today's blog ..... Looking to the Skies
Thanks to Everyone for the reports and pics. I imagine you are all smiling just as I am! As well as having the Manton Bay pair and some others of our favourites safely home, it looks like 30's journey is going according to plan and she could be home within the next week if all goes well. Fingers crossed.
Kind regards, Ann
Thankyou for the updates and pics. Karen thanks for the blog link looks like 30 will not be long! Also brilliant news that 28(10) is home! I think he was the one who B33 sent packing and was affectionately called" wonky wing" Things worked out for him in the end!
I wonder if these "uprights" mean that 33 intends to increase the height of nest substantially! So happy to see these 2 back!
An early start this morning.
This footage s-t-a-g-g-e-r-s along, I haven't analysed it except someone had a fish:
Someone has returned to the nest now.
