The purpose of this thread is for recording the season’s day to day activity at the Manton Bay nest thus freeing up the Rutland Osprey Project 2017 thread for general news on all the other birds, nests and projects.
For anyone new following Manton Bay, Maya and Blue 33(11) have been the resident pair for the last two years and to date have raised six chicks. More details about the nest and a table of the breeding data can be found here. Last season Maya returned on the 21 March and Blue 33(11) arrived a few days later on the 27 March.

I am sure I speak for us all in wishing Maya and Blue 33(11) a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
Mary, no doubt he will have us doubled with some action LOL
Meanwhile 33 and Maya on the nest. It looks windy and cold at MB this morning .. not quite what they are used to!
What a great team this pair make.
33 and Maya have both been off the nest and brought back a little nesting material. Just now they are both looking at an intruder in the bay who doesn't appear to be causing them too much concern.

Both mantling now in defensive positions and intruder flies close above the nest
I suppose this will go on just now and hopefully all will settle quickly as the other birds' partners return and they get on with their own nests.
As I type, 33 has flown.
Just a test to see if I could do the copyright OK.
Morning Jane - snap :-)
Hope the dentist wasn't too bad an ordeal for you yesterday!
I must go out now LOL BBS
Thanks Karen, all OK.
Popping in with some snaps I've gleaned.
I did ultra-brighten this because the original was so dull and the Cam1 version had the white blob splat on top of them. I don't suppose there's any chance "they" will be able to remove it :(
STICK - STICK - STICK !!! The first I have seen.
Not sure whether this worked or not:
More nest material:

My thought too, ALAN - I've been beavering away at this:
We don't see EJ and Odin spend much time like that.
