The purpose of this thread is for recording the season’s day to day activity at the Manton Bay nest thus freeing up the Rutland Osprey Project 2017 thread for general news on all the other birds, nests and projects.
For anyone new following Manton Bay, Maya and Blue 33(11) have been the resident pair for the last two years and to date have raised six chicks. More details about the nest and a table of the breeding data can be found here. Last season Maya returned on the 21 March and Blue 33(11) arrived a few days later on the 27 March.

I am sure I speak for us all in wishing Maya and Blue 33(11) a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.

I could repeat MARY's snap from first thing, except it's duller.
There was a flyby early on that I got excited about, I even did a video but on playing it back slowly could see it was a goose of some kind :(
IMAGICAT
Yes Scylla, nothing today. I've had the nest on while working and I saw the fly by. Likewise, I got a little excited as they appeared to be flying towards the nest but kept going. I thought what is scaring them - an osprey? But no, nothing appeared.
But we have tomorrow to look forward to as it was on the 21st March last year that Maya returned.
Still, even the empty nest provides us with joy ;-) (I can't continue to battle with matching frame colours!)
5N(04) is back today - Rutland have posted on facebook. And 30(05) has reached Morocco.
Fantastic news - thanks Tempo
