The purpose of this thread is for recording the season’s day to day activity at the Manton Bay nest thus freeing up the Rutland Osprey Project 2017 thread for general news on all the other birds, nests and projects.
For anyone new following Manton Bay, Maya and Blue 33(11) have been the resident pair for the last two years and to date have raised six chicks. More details about the nest and a table of the breeding data can be found here. Last season Maya returned on the 21 March and Blue 33(11) arrived a few days later on the 27 March.

I am sure I speak for us all in wishing Maya and Blue 33(11) a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
LOL Mary.
I've checked the nest a few times today and thankfully no signs of the EGs scraping and the cormorant was gone too until now. He's back perched on his usual spot.
But what a beautiful evening and such a clear view of the nest :-)

As the light falls, Mr/Mrs C is still on its perch, perhaps for the night.

Lovely to continue seeing this gorgeous cormorant. I wonder if he's doing the crow's job and deterring the Egyptian geese from nesting?
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Crow and Cormorant this afternoon - no fisticuffs but the Cormorant wasn't pleased.

Ten minutes ago, it's lighter than this now.
MARY, I'm leaving the sunrise to you :-*
Aww Scylla just as well you mentioned the sunrise, as when I last looked at the cam it was dull and thought you had captured the best of it, so when I read your post I went back and seen this :-)
Pity Mr or Mrs C. wasn't on the nest to make it more interesting :-)
