It is worth noting that the ring was put on upside down.

Starling a question has been asked on Dyfi chat about this . Can you provide a link with any detail please? Question is over possible surrogacy for the chicks.

There was some tragedy at one of the osprey nests at Memorial Field yesterday, when the two parent birds at the Ontario Street nest apparently collided while possibly defending their nest and were killed. With two chicks in the nest, Janie Veltkamp and volunteers with Birds of Prey Northwest organized a rescue early this morning with the help of the Sandpoint Parks and Recreation Department and Bestway Tree Service with its tall bucket truck. News of ringing at Borders Ospreys from Rosie Shields on Facebook
"Ringing day at Border Ospreys and we have a female and two males. Named Lilliard, Walter and Rabbie after local historical figures, their ring numbers are PX6, PY0 and PX9 respectively. Many thanks to the ringing team and to those who got the camera up and working again."
3 Chicks Blue U0, Blue U9 and Blue N0 at Foulshaw Moss
We know of 3 nests this year with chicks being raised by single dads since the females disappeared.
At the Seili, Finland nest, dad Vasuri brings in a good supply of fish for the 3 chicks, now 45-50 days old. The female, who apparently was sick, went missing on June 28. All chicks have been flapping but not helicoptering yet. One chick is quite dominant at feedings, enough to be a little concerning for the other chicks. Here, he continues to feed even though there's an intruder osprey close to the nest.

But the long days allow for late night feedings, like this one today at around 11pm local time.
The other nests are in Minnesota and Belwood Lake, Ontario.
These dads have all stepped up to raise their chicks alone, following in the footsteps (talon-steps?) of LG's own Ollie.
Eldest chick at Threave fledged today at 1.46 pm.
Thanks for that ALAN
