Daily Update (LG Nest) Tuesday 13th July

Hi folks,  its been a day of contrasts.   Eldest has enjoyed his freedom by flying backwards and forward to the camera post and then landing on the nest.  The other two have been doing exercising but as yet have not taken their maiden flights.

Only 2 fish late afternoon and then one very small one in the evening. They are keeping them lean and kean so to speak.

Two are asleep on the nest and the eldest is on the cam post, I think.

Happy viewing, see you in the morning.

  • Can't be long now, Joan -  if its not to be tonight, it will def. be tomorrow!

  • I'm sure it will be tomorrow Linda ... several times today it has looked on the brink. I wonder how many more peaceful scenes of all three feeding together like this we'll get ?

  • There can't be many days left when they are all on the nest together, can there?

  • Hi everyone.

Many thanks for all the great posts and pics.  Great to see there's been five fish delivered, which will make things a bit more peaceful on the nest.  I'm no expert on fish and don't know how far a brown trout can strrrrrretch before it breaks in half.  Thankfully it seems that Odin and EJ don't want to find out either.  It shows that not only are they fantastic parents in terms of their care of the young Ospreys, but also very considerate for us humans, in terms of what might fly at the camera lense.

Glad your computer has been fixed tish.  My internet connection's been dodgy over the past few months but thankfully seems okay know.  Although I get the feeling the ISP has decided to "compensate" by making the connection speed much slower.

Anyway here's a nice scene of two GEMs being fed, while another shows us just how impressive Osprey wings are.

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • Lovely pic of them feeding, Heron.   Beautiful wings, arent they?

  • The fish was brought in at 8.40 and two chicks are still eating so it must have been a whopper.  Like you Lindybird  I think the days of us watching the family on the nest are running out....sob.  It has been a wonderful season.  The weather forecast is considerably worse for tomorrow so today's plentiful fish supply should keep them going.

  • I must tear myself away.. things to do etc. etc.

  • Trying to catch up and reply to all my e-mails but all I can hear are the Gems, squeaking as they eat. I can't believe they are still eating that one fish, but so glad that they have all eaten tonight.

  • All chicks are full. EJ is finishing  the fish .  #3 has been very carefully studying EJ's technique of  tearing the fish .

Now #1 has one end of the  skin and EJ has the other  and they are  both  tugging on it. . Now EJ took it back as it looks  too tough for the  chick to tear . EJ let #1 have the tail and it is  trying to tear it into bite size  pieces . # 2 & 3 are helping EJ look for and  eat the scraps on the nest . A day with out food made them frugal LOL

Oh -- there is another fish on the far side of the nest and EJ is serving that one  It  looks like #3 is  the only one eating from that  fish, but #1 is standing  by incase it  can fit another bite or two into it's crop .:)

  • Know the feeling Lindybird.  Come back soon.  Just looked at the cam again and all are eating.  Has another fish been delivered?  Surely can't be the same one that arrived at 2040.  They are being spoiled today -  EJ is making sure everyone gets fed!
