Good morning, all. It looks like it's going to be another beautiful (but very cold) day here today.
Limpy's teeth removal went really well, thankfully. I'm so relieved he went through with it - he is terrified of visiting the dentist, but they were really good with him last night. He actually shook hands with the dentist afterwards!
Lindy, what wonderful pictures you've posted of your holiday! I've really enjoyed seeing them all. I'd love to go on a cruise like that but sadly I live with the world's most seasick husband so that's a no-no.
I hope you all have a good day today. Thoughts, as always, to Margo, Heather and Brenda - I really hope Brenda is improving.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Been looking at your lovely kestrel pics, Clare. Beautiful!
Hope all went well with Limpys dentist appointment yesterday.

We've cross posted again, Clare! So pleased to hear that all went well. You'll have to give Limpy some tlc whilst he recovers!
My OH gets seasick and it took me five years to persuade him to get on a ship! We took some strong pills with us as insurance, as he was so nervous, but they wern t needed as it was like a mill pond on the Med.
Some years ago we took the overnight ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland when we went to visit my brother-in-law in Germany. It was the smoothest crossing you could imagine - I could barely feel movement. After a good night's sleep and a generous breakfast we headed down to the car and waited to drive off the ferry. As I drove us off I glanced over at Limpy. He was, literally, green! In the artificial lighting on board the ship I hadn't been able to see how terrible he was feeling. Six hours later, he was still like it. We've tended to stick to the much shorter Dover-Dunkirk crossing ever since.
Good morning – no mist today, but still unnaturally mild for January.
AQ – a big temp drop in 24 hours – a pity the tour was in the heat of the valley on the high-temp day, then in the mountains when it was cooler – should have swapped those two stages! Pleased you could save shopping for the better day.
Annette – I wonder why you suddenly noticed those lurking lights? Probably been too busy before!
Linda – is this the holiday haircut already, or will you fit in one more before you go?
Clare – pleased Limpy’s extraction was a better experience than expected. I hope he isn’t sore today.
Another quiet day today; OH is to collect his new teeth, and J is returning to the hospital optometrist, otherwise no appointments. J has decided he will opt for surgery for his eye problem; don’t know how long the waiting list might be - summer holiday would be best to suit work.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Oh dear, Clare! Trying not to LOL! - it's not funny, I know. Once I was green just when on a small sailboat, moored on a lake! Couldn't eat my lunch!
OG - Its still so wet in the air here, it's like living in a cloud....you can get wet through just by going outside, so that it might as well be raining.
Haircut is timed so that I can fit another in before we go..... my hair grows like mad!
We've just had six beautiful magpies in the woodland at the back of our garden. I'm trying to remember what that signifies.
One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a secret,
Never to be told.
Eight for a wish,
Nine for a kiss,
Ten for a bird,
You must not miss.
