Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
I agree with CLARE - it's a job best done straight away! We cleared my parents stuff asap - day he died in Dad's case, next day for Mum as OH was away when she died. OH's family took forever with the ones they had to do down south - in fact BiL still has stuff hanging around from his parents and aunt.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
I made it out of the house with my camera earlier. Click on these two bums to see a few more!
Good morning
Yes, BRENDA, it is cold here. Braemar, though was -12c last night so we are not so badly off! A lovely clear blue sky here today.
I'm inclined to agree that it is better to dispose of things sooner rather than later but of course not everyone can do that. Denial is such a normal part of the grieving process for some people that I can quite understand why some folk prefer to keep their loved one's belongings near to them until they feel ready to accept the status quo.
My OH has gone to lie down for an hour or two so I'd better make good use of the time! He has had a great weekend, sons in law around him and he was laughing and joking with them and no complaints. Now it is just me - and boy, what a change in mood and behaviour :-(
So sorry, Heather. Order more visitors!
I'd pop round to say hello, Heather, if I only lived a bit closer. Well, a lot closer.
BJANE You must be absolutely exhausted, do take care.
ANNETTE I do hope Lightning continues to improve.
Sorry you are having such dreadful weather down south. Our temps for today were a minimum of -1 and a max of 2. I certainly has stayed cold but beautiful at the same time. Like HEATHER I saw that the temp overnight at Balmoral was -12 and Swanage were showing 13 degrees. A difference of 25 degrees in this small island of ours.
As usual we have been nail biting watching Andy. How fantastic he stays at the no 1 position and even more wonderful that Jamie and his partner are up there too. What a proud Mum. Heard her on TV a couple of days ago saying that Jamie was also a great golfer and played off a handicap of 3 when he was 15. What a talent.
It is my visit to the dental consultant tomorrow to see if they think they can give me a 2 implant 3 tooth bridge since my wisdom tooth fractured beyond repair. I have no idea what the outcome will be. I have to go to Dingwall to see the specialist and we have heard there is a good Thai restaurant there, so will treat ourselves whatever.
Brenda: That's a bit vague - they ought to tell you exactly when and if the water is going to be disconnected. We had no notice at all, and no explanation, but I suspect its because of a Water Pumping Station in our town which keeps having problems. They probably won't spend the money on it that they should! We keep some bottled water stored in the garage, in case we can't make a cup of tea (heaven forbid!) and of course we have a large water butt which we can use to flush the loo or wash our hands. I hope all goes well on the day, it sounds fairly major stuff but of course they will have to do it. You must be looking forward to the time when your road is more normal again after all this upheaval.
Dibnlib: Sorry about the teeth: they are a bore but a necessity. Hope your dental consultant can be helpful.
It's raining here, again. We popped out - my OH had a couple of errands in the High Street and I wanted to go to our poshest shop to buy my Friend a birthday card. I've known that her landmark birthday was looming for over a year now, and kept on saying that I would make an extra special card for her, but I have just kept putting it off. It's the birthday that begins with a 7, so she is not too pleased about it. Managed to find a pretty but also jokey card for her, and have inscribed the inside with a quote which I found recently about ageing:
"It's not how old you are: it's how you are old....." - Brian Blessed.
Her lovely OH is taking her to London on the train on Thursday, for a weekend celebration of a meal and a show. Before that, we hope to go to the cinema on Wednesday to see the latest J K Rowling film.
Dentist did well, and so did I, but that was a massive local anaesthetic - was just going off at dinner time, after treatment at 1:15 pm!
Sorry the anaesthetic took so long to wear off, OG. Great that your treatment is now over, though.
Heather, Your OH obviously enjoys having plenty of company. Invite his friends around and go out for the day. He is obviously worried about his health problems and outside company distracts him. He will have your mobile number.if he needs you. X
