Morning, All:  Late start today as I overslept after going to bed too late last night! 

AQ:   You made me laugh so much to start my day, as I was imagining the ducks 'ducking' their heads to get in the post bag to be sent to Diane!! 

Damp start here today, but we welcome the rain for the garden  Must dash as off to a friends for a coffee & I'm late already.

Raining heavily overnight, good job I got that mowing done.  OG, you are correct, I don't get Friday off, although OH says grass so dry most people's gardens don't take too much effort to get through, early finish, hurray!

good morning all. Seem to have time only for quick scans over the past few days but think I am right that it is still only chick 1 who has fledged.

Went to Tiso for coffee yesterday (great coffee and not quite such tempting cakes) Though it can be expensive you know the type of thing - pop in for coffee and treat yourself to a Mountain Equipment fleece or Haglofs shell on the way out, or if I am being a cheapskate there is a strategically placed buff stand before you leave the store. Anyway there was a lady having lunch ( she was breaking her journey from Didsbury to Lochcarron ). She and her husband have a months holiday there every year. She said she had another 100 miles to go and when she got there she would chill her wine for a while then pour herself a glass while she looked at her Loch. Sounds nice, doesn't it?. We got talking because she had her lovely Welsh Springer Spaniel with her. Don't see those nearly as often as the English type.

Have rebooked to go away next week as I wasn't well enough at the start of the month and this time managed to get Dillon booke into our first choice.   

Morning dibnlib, I know what you mean, we have a Mountain Warehouse in Carlisle, permanent sale, and I can't resist fleece tops :))  How many buffs do you have?? Going somewhere exciting for holiday?

Hi Diane I found your post very interesting re the Amish.  Have watched a few programmes about them and admire the fact that do not pollute anything.  Obviously it interests other people too and helps the tourist industry at the same time.  It is amazing to me that they have managed to keep their way of life in this day and age.

Thanks to all for all the interesting posts, trying to catch up again.  Gets more difficult every day because I just have to read everything.

Good morning dibnlib and how beautiful Dingle was.  Such a lovely face.

Forecast – heavy rain.  Result – started sunny, so far dry and hot but high cloud.  Hope I can get this finished before trip to hairdresser (sure to rain when we are coming out!)  Son phoned this morning – seems quite relaxed.

Annette – your Orange Tree sounds quite perverse – perhaps it was just getting used to the wrong conditions when right ones happened along!  Dark evening was only due to rain clouds, although we are beginning to see normal shortening of evenings already.  “Strimming” is using a “strimmer” to cut long spikes of grass or to trim the edges of borders, as in our case.  No real pools here – just a small “off-the-shelf“ water feature – only frogs are ornamental ones!

Diane – I guess the Amish way of life (which I have always admired) has a calming influence in the community, despite some negative reactions – why can’t we all get along together?  Don’t try to answer that one!!

TerryM – not surprised grass is growing slowly – until very recently we had no rain – our grass grows tufty bits, so OH mows, but uses only one battery whereas normally he has to change to second one half way round.

Dibnlib – so pleased hol is working out second time around – and for Dillon too!

TERRY   lost this one earlier.  I have 3 buffs but I have a friend who has no interest in clothes whatsoever and she has 14 and still counting.

Next week we are having 2 or 3 days away.We put Dillon into kennels on Tues pm and that evening we go to Eden Cout to see "Magic of the Dance"  (Irish dancing)  Wed we will take a drive north stopping off on the way to Castle of Mey, then we will drive along the north coast to Smoo Caves then turn back and stop the night at Kyle of Tongue, then we will pooter on to Ullapool where we will stay the night before heading home. If the weather is good we will divert round Gairloch. Hoping for nice weather then we will take pics.

We have just had lunch at our favourite restaurant in Inverness and as usual had our tastebuds tickled? Long live "Rocpool"

MARGOBIRD  love the thought of Dingle. He was actually Fingal after the cave/ piece of music. Though I am sure Dingle would have suited him just as well!!!!

Afternoon all ... been much cooler today ... we had very heavy overnight rain, but sunshine until now when it is looking gloomy again.

dibnlib - what a lovely photograph of Fingal. Your short trip away sounds wonderful ... I was up in that area many,many moons ago! OH and I went to Tiso in Edinburgh last year ... had a day trip by train ... he wanted something in particular... then he discovered there was a store in Newcastle! I didn't complain ... had a lovely day out :-)

OG - your pebble pool at the previous house looks lovely ... mine is an off-the-shelf feature too.

Diane - I have watched programmes about the Amish people and admire their way of life. Did you read on the BOT diary page that one of the owlets got out of the box last night and was knocked off the tray by one of the incoming adults? When I was watching last night it was jumping up and clinging on ... but the barncam was off so I couldn't see outside anyway!

AQ - I'll have some of your lovely ducks,too! Fabulous markings on the feathers.
