Hi everyone,
Well its been a day of exercising, fish bringing, and generally ospreys being ospreys. The weather could be a bit better though. Very windy again and it did rain yesterday, more in the evening than daytime.
The young ones keep getting up for a stretch and a mouch, but generally are keeping low because of the wind. EJ is probably in her tree.
Happy viewing and see you in the morning. Night, night.

I think EJ has been watching as #1 has been fly-jumping landing on her favorite perch. She may have decided it was not quite ready to fly so she is standing on the perch as a barricade . :) EJ is a smart bird !!
From time to time I think the chicks see their reflection in the camera lens and are fascinated by it

Thanks Wattle.
I don't remember last year's chicks being this active at this stage, but could well be wrong. Or maybe it's the same chick that puts on such a show each morning? Hope it doesn't get too adventurous; kinda worrying. I was reading the LOTL blog where one of the staff mentioned that we'd be seeing more ospreys around the area as more youngsters started exploring. Apparently it's not uncommon for them to beg food from neighboring nests.

The Osprey version of a "Walk Around"
Australians take a long sabatical just to relax and visit friends . They call it a " Walk Around "
If any youngsters decided to visit the LG nest , they will find that EJ and Odin provide enough food for guests !
Yes it still seems quite calm.
The met office seem to think otherwise, strange. Gusting to 30mph, forecast 7am.

Morning jsb; Thanks for the weather forecast.
Barbara Jean: If any chicks come visiting our nest, there may be enough food but not sure about the Welcome mat!
I'm off to bed. If they ring and bling today, hope a lot of folks get to see it.
Hi Annette, if you are lingering, Yodays the big day of ringing I hope. Chick stats are on standby, with three females pencilled in!
Stormy weather on the peaks, East Highlands..danger of losing one's footing....no kidding, But Grampian should be OK if I am reading it correctly.

Wind stronger now, just in the last five minutes, some rain also. Chicks are hunkering down. Mum and Dad are 'out' at the moment.
Mum's back.
I came home early from the library to count birds in the nest! Yes, four. Lovely calm day here - perfect for ringing & blinging. Can I send some fine weather over?
