Hallo all: I put up the painters' tape showing the dimensions of the various flat-screen tellys (tellies?) we're looking at and now we're thinking maybe we don't need a really big one.
Auntie: Great that you had a lovely day at Pohtiolampi; how fun to see ospreys in action.
OG: I say put Loch Garten for sure on your trip north! We expect a full report! OMG: That python/gator photo was fascinatingly gross. Talk about his eyes being bigger than his belly!! Eeeeuw! Why did I think orchids were a hot-weather plant.... Well - if you go to Caerlaverock, hope you enjoy it. Are "kissing gates" the same as stiles? All I can remember is "Would you rather run a mile, jump a stile, or eat a pancake in a field?" Oh dear. Talk about regressing...... Thanks for update on Big Rig Steve; haven't been on the computer all day. Had earnest discussion with vines, who have promised to behave, and gave some encouragement to the tomatoes, which are being a bit shy. Currently, our ailing Navel Orange tree is getting a lot of TLC in the form of deep watering followed by nutritional snack that will make it feel better (and we hope, look and and taste better).
AQ: Universal laws transcend borders. :-)
It's July 4 - Independence Day - tomorrow; will start off the day shortly after 6 a.m.(!) with live Wimbledon coverage (on our normal channel - just checked!), then will putter about before picking up daughter in late afternoon to go to Mission Santa Ynez, where we'll watch July 4 fireworks display. OH not thrilled with fireworks, so he'll stay home and keep Lightning company (she doesn't like them either).
In the meantime, off to check on osprey cams.
Lovely pics Lindybird and what a size that jellyfish is. My OH takes 12's as well and I am forever tripping over his feet. Lovely pic of Buzz he obviously enjoys the seaside.
Margobird
Margo, OH's BiL had new hearing aids a few days ago. He never liked previous one because of picking up so much background noise, but this time he is so pleased. He now has one in each ear, which are so tiny and he now has no problems with the background noise. In fact he now wears them all the time, whereas previously he very rarely wore them as he found it so annoying.
Lovely to see you back from your holiday Heather. I always say that part of any holiday should be that the washing and ironing should be done elsewhere on the return home !!
Thanks Heather B I will have to check out the loop system in a theatre. I would hate it if we had to stop going to live shows. Will let you know how things go tomorrow.
Thanks BrendaH I am sure I will cope but at the moment it seems a bit daunting. I never thought I would be losing my hearing before I was 70.
A programme to note on the TV: On Thursday night at 7.00pm - "Natural World" on BBC2 is about Harpy Eagles in the Orinoco rainforest, in Venezuela.
EDIT: Yes, I know - I thought it said 'Happy Eagles' too, for a minute.
Thanks Lindybird saw a bit about that on the news. Off to record it now.
Mini-crisis today as I had a door lock in the house jammed in the locked position, just now managed to free it.

Sat track schedule Spring 2014
LG 7 days; RW & SWT nil; LDOP varies
Afternoon all - been quite a nice day here, cooler than of late, but very pleasant ... but now its raining! I hope it rains heavily and waters the garden for me!
jsb - I hate a mini-crisis like that ! I had one a few weeks ago ... couldn't lock the outside conservatory door ... had to get a new lock fitted ... expensive :-((
Linda - thanks for the info about the eagle prog ... have set it to record in case I forget ... happens a lot these days! Lovely pics of your beach walk .... Buzz looks as if he's having a wonderful time.
margobird - good luck with the hearing aid ... my dad had one which he didn't like and then just after his 90th birthday (a year before he died), they gave him a new one which he loved and got used to straight away!
Sue C - thanks for the sculptor link ... beautiful work
Brenda H - hope you are enjoying your quiet day at home
Thanks to everyone else for chat etc ... I've rabbitted (sp ... 1t or 2 ?) on enough now!
Take care

Morning all:
patriciat: Car doors can do a lot of damage; we park backwards in the driveway, which is on an incline, since we're fed up with being smacked by door as we haul out groceries, etc. Hate to think what would happen if a bacon and egg roll were being offered!
Margobird: We'll try not to SHOUT at you on the blog when you get your hearing aid! :-) Maybe you'll need earplugs rather than hearing aids at the next concert.
Lindybird: Oh no. Fashions for flowers? I couldn't possibly cope with that. Your firework party was probably courtesy of some noisy Yanks! Good to hear the native squirrels are making a comeback - also that you didn't have to make yet another trip for specs. Lovely shot of beach. Is it always that quiet? THose one-sided trees remind me of the ones - cypress I think - around Monterey Bay in California, which aren't anywhere near as tall, but are all windswept. Lovely shot of them. Interesting, in that palm trees are always leaning into the wind.
OG: Gone (north) but certainly not forgotten on these pages! Look foward to seeing you back again.
AQ: Penola? Must Google! I'm frankly tired of Lance Armstrong (or maybe just his photo staring out at me from supermarket magazine covers); wish he'd make up his mind whether he's retiring or not. Love the Law of Random Numbers! So true. Another Universal Law: No matter what you plant, oxalis will come up!
Auntie: Gosh, another scorching day in Finland! What can I say? Today we have rain and the sun hasn't been seen since mid-afternoon on the Fourth, though I gather the U.S. Northeast (that's Diane, Barbara Jean, and Gary) are all suffering mightily in the heat. Something like more than 100 percent humidity after they've factored in some other equation....
SueC: Sounds like an intelligent forum there! Thanks for the link. :-)
BrendaH: It's so easy to get into a "dashing" mode. I have to force myself to sit down, especially during the day.
Alan: We have two cars that need cleaning when you're done with Lady P's.
Heather: Welcome back. Hope there's at least one connection between the washer and the plumbing!
jsb: Hope you were on the "right" side of that locked door!
Hallo to Djoan and anyone else I missed! Off to take daughter home (she was down here early for eye appointment). Take care. Back later.
Ha, Annette!! Your humour as sharp as ever!! Plumber took three hours to fit a new radiator in our upstairs bathroom (no ensuites here ,you will gather, just one 'facility' downstairs and one upstairs!!) NOW, I think that the new radiator is not quite ?level? - Query, do I sneak outside, get spirit level and test it, or ignore it? OH will just tell me I am too fussy. He just doesn't understand-----
