ANNETTE/HERON Our expression for "bump on a log" was "pea on a drum. I was in the RAF and it referred to an ill fitting hat. Aren't the osps doing so well.
Morning All: Hilarious pic, auntie.
EJ sitting on the nest, food calling at the moment.
Good morning all and thanks for news and pics, auntie love the one of the poop and as you say won't be long before they get the camera. Full of admiration for EJ for sitting out the terrible rain and so pleased to see that Odin has delivered already and 2 feeds already. Sounds as though it is still raining but not sure perhaps it is just the noises from the nest when EJ is trying to get 3 fat little chicks underneath her. Odin magnificent as always, managing to fish in the rain and keeping them all fed. Got a couple of hours or so before we leave for Sidmouth to do the donkey thing tomorrow. Hoping the weather will not be too bad although we might be travelling down in the rain. Does not look to bad tomorrow so fingers crossed. as I look at the cam now there are little bums sticking out, but EJ trying her best to keep them dry. Will miss all this I have to say but will be able to catch up sometime on Wednesday as I know all of you will post and keep me up to date with events and importantly fish deliveries.
Have a good day all now I must go and sort my garden birds out. Will have to leave extra out for them wo they have enough till we get back. We were woken up and 5.15 yesterday morning by our phone ringing. Frightens me to death when that happens but fortunately it was a wrong number but we were treated to the sight of a very handsome dog fox in our garden. We thought a fox was visiting as the cheese I put out for the birds is always gone in the morning and it answered our question as to why the cheese tray had been dragged on the lawn. We watched him eating peanuts and he was aware of us but quite bold and only went when he had finished eating. Looked extremely healthy with a magnicent bushy tail and a glorious colour. Suburban fox but never dreamed we would actually see him.
Margobird
How wonderful to see a fox like that, margobird (I do hate it when the phone goes at night, as you do expect it to be bad news, don't you?) Have a great time at the donkey sanctuary and give them a pat for me.
Looks as if its dry at the moment at LG, but it has been raining as all looks damp. EJ has stopped calling but expect she is on the look out for Odin. She has to keep shifting to keep all those huge chicks covered up.
EJ gone fly around at 8:50
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
EJ suddenly takes off for a comfort break:
chicks look around for her............... now she's back again.
EJ has left the nest and little ones looking for her after a bit of sorting out amongst themselves. Looks as though it has stopped raining at the moment. EJ back and talking to chicks as she arrives.
And now back.
Great story about the fox, margobird. We had one that used to visit a year or two ago. The really are gorgeous creatures and to see one in a suburban garden was a real pleasure. The bushy tail is great to see and certainly would vanish the nerves caused by an out of normal hours phone call (I tend to get a bit jumpy when the phone goes myself). Have a fantastic time with the donkeys and I hope the weather stays good for you.
