Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.
Chick 2 and has just flown off the nest with it.
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
Good morning Linda.
Sad that she has left us, but let us hope that she might return again next year! :-)
I have to go now.
Bye.
Well, it is official, Emma has posted on the official blog that Lady has not been seen for 48 hours or around the Loch so they have come to the conclusion that she is on her way to Africa.
Only Laird, and the two juves to migrate now - its all going too quickly. Another season nearly over.!!.
Thanks for updates and pics, Sandra.

sandy said: Lady arrived back at LotL at 2 pm on 23rd March this year. If you go back to the Osprey Sightings thread (remember that?) the most likely sighting that could have been Lady on her migration was from the morning of 22nd March at Crookfoot Reservoir in Cleveland - I made a note of it at the time as possibly being Lady at her last stop before Dunkeld. Interesting then that a new sighting was reported yesterday at 12:10 pm at Crookfoot Reservoir!! If Lady left at 10:18 as reported then it would be entirely feasible that she made Cleveland by Noon. Presumably the same bird was later reported at 6:15 pm, 8:00 pm and also this afternoon at 2:45 pm. Hugely speculative and even fanciful that Lady may be at Crookfoot Reservoir, but not impossible!

Thanks Sandy for the above info, would be wonderful if it was Lady. With her experience over the years she must have a well trodden route that she takes.

Good morning Sandra and more lovely captures for which I thank you so much. Thanks for your message and getting to grips with Lady leaving us after such a dramatic season. I was OK until I read a couple of poems put on the blog which were just so touching. So many people absolutely captivated by beautiful Lady of the Loch. I keep thinking about her and wondering how far she has gone already. I think she broke a lot of hearts when she left. I am thinking positive that maybe she might just come back for another season.
Thanks Lynette for Nick's lovely poem about the Lady. It reminds me of a piece of music I was listening to recently, by Dougie Maclean, a Scottish fiddler who grew up in Dunkeld. It's called simply 'The Osprey', and is on his album "Dougie Maclean Fiddle" from 1984:

It's a very atmospheric and poignant piece. I love the way it fades out at the end, as though the osprey is soaring high and flying away into the distance.....
You can buy the music on his website, either the whole album or purchase an individual track. I think the album is also on Amazon with a preview feature for each track. I was wondering if Dougie might consider 'donating' the music by putting it in the public domain on the SWT website as a tribute to Lady.

Chick 1 eating a fish
Could this be Laird?
The feathers are an adults.
Hi Sandra and thanks for the pics. I agree that it is the Laird. Hope he will bring a fish for the younger one as he was hollering while the eldest eat his fish.
