Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.
Afternoon all. You were up early Sandra. Thank you very much for all the pix you have posted and thanks very much too Alan P for the video clip of three on the nest. One to be treasured. Great to see you on this thread. Thanks also to Lofty, Annette and Margobird for kind responses to my visit. It seems that competition for fish gets tighter as the chicks get older but both youngsters at LOTL are able to watch their parents fish at close quarters so they will be learning all the time. I asked yesterday what they are going to do with the egg which remains on the nest and they haven't decided yet. It doesn't resemble an osprey egg any more as it has been bleached by the sun but they believe it to be completely intact and undamaged, somewhat surprisingly, and the more I think about it the more I believe they must keep it since this is probably Lady's last brood. Cam 1 is working and showing lovely scenes of the area and followed an osprey on a flight a short time ago. Cam2 still down. FYI the hides are opposite the trees on the left bank of the loch as the camera looks out over the nest and the ospreys now spend a lot of time in those trees which is why they keep panning around the area. Happy viewing everyone. I have loads of non-osprey related tasks to catch up with so will look in periodically. Catch up with you all later.
Chick playing dead, intruder about.
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
Chick 1 and the egg.
Dad just brought a live fish at 1:10 and #1 chick has it. Dad still on the nest.
oooh, it is Lady and not Dad!
Heck, I am confused now!! I think it was the Laird and he has just left the nest.
