Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.
Hi Brenda. Yes in recent weeks Lady has built herself up although she is not by any means fully bulked up but she looks really well considering how ill she was. Her illness is and will remain a mystery. Oh and by the way they really are as noisy as they sound in the microphones. Sandra - I was delighted to see younger chick eat the whole fish. I know how stressful it has been watching elder chick stamp its authority on the nest. We can sleep easily. It had a good feed today. I'm going to put my feet up for an hour now. Will look back in later. Bye for now.
Great info thanks Emma, must have been so fascinating to see it in n reality. Cam 1 is back on and just seen the Lady and one youngster on the nest so can retire for the night contented (felt like a long day with no cameras )
regards
Emma: Thanks for your description of your visit to LOTL. It is always nice to get first hand reports from the various sites. Interesting about the chick bathing as the adults at Rutland Water are often seen bathing. It is believed to help with the removal of parasites.
Just recorded 8 mins of all 3 on the nest as there wont be many more scenes like that now:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ig2Ll6RP6Zk
Just logged on at 8:50 to find chick#2 on its own! I just love that bird!!
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
Thanks Alan for the video.
I have saved in my favs, it is a rare sight to see!!
Have to go now.
Good night all.
Bye.
Evening all:
Emma: Brilliant report from LOTL - Wow - so Lady could be migrating fairly soon. I do hope she'll prove the staff wrong; still time will tell. It's been an amazing year. Two chicks are on the nest now. Cam#2 apparently still not working....
One chick on nest; cam focus is really tigiht so can't see much other than the center of the nest. Also, am falling asleep here so will sign off now. Take care all
Good morning all.
Chick #2 on nest and Lady on her branch and both alarm calling.
