Loch of the Lowes - 2010

Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.

Thanks Alan, for posting this link.  There is something very touching on this clip that I don't think has been commented on yet.  When the Laird and Lady are each feeding a chick, between each mouthful Laird gives his chick, he looks over to Lady to see how she is managing.  If there is true affection between birds, it was certainly very visible in those glances!  It's one of the memories of this remarkable time that will be with me for a long tome. ;-)

Good day Wattle 15 I have just watched the clip again and you are right.  The last few days have been roller coaster of emotions but how wonderful to witness what is happening now.  this is one Lady who does not want to leave us just yet and her fortitude is wonderful to behold.  I don't think any of us will ever forget the happenings of the past few days.

Good morning Lynette and it is a wonderful sight to behold.  Have seen her feeding herself and a chick and can't believe still that his has happened.  There is a way to go but fingers crossed whatever aliled her has gone.  What a partner the Laird has turned out be as well.

Hi Margobird and Original Goldfinch - dentist wasn't as bad as I feared. Back now and catching up. See there have been two fish deliveries so far. it looks as though Lady is feeding the chicks and I think I know what you mean  OG re possible dementia. She seems to be finding it a bit tough breaking off the fish and the chick/s are taking it from her beak.I suppose it is all part of the healing process of whatever hit her. Anyway  they seem to be tucking in. I just wish the camera didn't stop every minute or so and you have to restart it again, frustrating.

  • Just come on, and lovely to see Lady carefully feeding the chicks again.

  • Chicks are calling for dad to bring in another fish, will he ??

  • Lady has just flown off the nest. The chicks are dozing

It just makes your heart sing doesn't it Linda.  Just watched the interview from last night when they interviewed Peter just as she went down to the Loch and had a drink.  I think he could hardly believe what he was watching.  Lady has left the nest at the moment and I still worry but I am sure she will be back shortly.

  • Hi Lynette pleased your dentist visit was not too bad.  Have to go myself tomorrow for a filling and that will cost.  Can't believe how much a trip to the dentist can cost now.

Lady appears to have gone for a fly around, wonder if she had gone for a drink again.  Still hard to believe what has happened but so heart warming to see her feeding the chicks and having some herself.  Fingers crossed for a continued improvement.

  • Lady is back, comfort break and possible a drink to help rehydrate herself, anyway she is back with her family, chicks carry on dozing.

  • Lady is back and one of the chicks up and moving around.  Is it Lady or a chick that is calling.

  • I think Lady is actually calling for food, chicks have woken and are wondering if dad is on his way.
