Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.
Laird has just flown in with fish and I think is going to feed her. He's present the fish to her. He's feeding on greedy chick but will he feed Lady? Let's hope so.

Good morning all and I could hardly believe what I am seeing this morning. Couldn't wait till later to see how Lady was and when I first looked she was sitting up and looking around although her eyelid still shut. the Laird has just delivered a fish and I wish he would try to give her a bit of it. Will be back later.

He is feeding one hungry looking chick, but the other doesn't seem bothered. Lady is sitting, looking around her as if to say "what happened, then ?" She is not trying to take any of the fish from him, even though he is right in front of her.
The other chick is thinking of breakfast but may be too late as lchick and Laird have almost demolished it.
Several people have posted on the LOTL blog with experience of dealing with stroke patients, and are saying that what they are seeing - including the partial improvement - reminds them of that. Stroke victims often lose the ability to swallow, which might explain why she is not displaying an active interest in food, even when it's right in front of her.
The male has now flown off. Lady is looking so much more alert, and taking an interest in what is going on around her now.
Lindybird said: This is amazing - I came on, expecting to hear the worst this morning, and she is sitting upright on the nest, and looking around her! Her eyes still look covered by her extra eyelid, and she is slow, but definitely more 'with it' - I wonder if someone who posted earlier was right, and she has had some kind of bird flu....

One the main blog Fiona from the Osprey Team at the center said they suspect is was a brain bleed ( stroke)
She said although it looks so positive right now we must remember she is gravely ill
The Laird just fed the chicks. Lady sat right at his feet next to the chicks and never asked for or took any food. Her eyes are still closed by her extra lid

Lady seems to be taking more interest of the things around her. She is looking round and occasionally giving her feathers a quick preen.
Both chicks have just disturbed her and gone to rest be her sides but she didn't bat an eyelid (pardon the pun). If I'm not mistaken those eyes look more open than they were?
Oh my goodness, she is sitting up and looking around. How wonderfull is that!!!
I hope she will start eating now.
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
Lady has got herself up and the Laird is sitting on the nest besides the chicks.
She seems to be making a remarkable recovery.
