Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.
Oh Lynette
No Emma, I didn't. I justs want The Laird to feed Lady a morsel to give her some moisture and strength.
Yes Cirrus, I'm inclined to agree that she seemed to be food soliciting a little earlier but we seem to understand so much about these birds and yet so little. The best hope is probably the Laird's own intuition. He knew to step in and feed the chicks as soon as Lady fell ill so we have to rely on him knowing whether to feed her or not. At least he and the chicks have had a good feed on this fish.
I am pleased to see that the discussion on this thread (at least the two pages I have just caught up on) is so much more sensible than the discussion on the RSPB Lochgarten main Blog. I know this bird is having a long and lingering death, and that it is painful to watch. In the circumstances, with two live well-fed chicks on the nest, it is not possible to help her, even were permissions to be granted. If people can't face her death, they do not need to watch! I think it is most inappropriate that this subject has taken over the main Blog - we have this thread here, and reports on the feeding of the LG chicks and the competent care of the male are to be welcomed - as are alerts to Blog updates on SWT LotL's website. I shall adapt this post and also put it in the comments on the main Blog.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
He is so good, Laird, feeding the chicks, one chick is finding the scraps and having a go at demolishing them whilst the other one is getting its from dad.

RSPB Giving Nature a Home
Is anyone having the same trouble, the camera seems to have gone off.
Good idea OG - by all means encourage the LOTL commentators on the main blog to join this thread. It has helped me while we have watched events unfolding there. Yes Lynette the cam seems to have gone down. There was a mention on their site of it overheating and Fiona I think it was, was having to use a fan to cool it down. Hope its a short-term problem. They have more than enough to deal with there right now.

I hope I haven't offended you and agree with a lot you have been saying.
Camera still down.
Ah, thanks for the cam news Lynette, I was wondering if it was my PC>
