Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.
Dors said: Apologies if this goes wrong not sure how post to this page so it's a try it and see. I am deeply upset at the happenings at LOTL and was alerted to it by the main LG blog. Only started watching last year and only plucked up courage to join in this year. My thoughts and payers are with all at LOTL (birds and humans alike) as I am sure are many others.

Welcome Dors your first post is ok. It is certainly a tense morning at LoTL.

New update on Blog at LotL. Expert opinion is not good. They have permission to remove body for autopsy when it happens, but will not intervene with chicks.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
It’s not looking good folks. We’ve had a few experts take a look so there is a possibility our Lady won’t make it. We are keeping the webcam on, as traumatic it is to watch, it is nature and maybe it is fitting that her last days are here at the loch she made her home. If the worst happens, we have permission to remove the body for autopsy. Unfortunately we can’t intervene with the chicks. We have taken the stance to let nature take its course. I am hopeful that the Laird will continue to bring fish and feed the chicks when they beg. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers, I think they will be sorely needed today! Our thoughts go out to you all too, who have been watching since the beginning and supporting us and the ospreys all the way."Fiona
This is the official blog from the SWT site, so lets hope and pray she will come through.

There's a further update from Fiona on the webcam page. Things are not looking good for dear Lady :o(

It will be interesting to see what the male will do. Mind you he has already fed the chicks so we know he can do that.
That's a heartwarming story, Tiger. If the worst happens at LOTL then lets hope The Laird will come up trumps.
Must go and get on, will look in later.
You're right Tiger, surely if he's fed the chicks before then he can do it again. They are both snuggled into Lady at the moment, such a sad scene.

Well it really happened. It is why Ollie is so fondly remembered at Loch Garten.
Tiger thanks for that story at LG in 1993. I am clinging to hope that the Laird will soon realise something is wrong with Lady and will take over raising the chicks. I cannot watch the cam anymore at the moment as it is so distressing to see her like this. I know she is quite old for an osprey but wanted it to be successful for LOtL bearing in mind her great age.
