Daily Update (LG Nest) Friday 21st May

Now the urge to scratch is even stronger, but this time you're scratching at the hard egg shell. This is not nearly as easy. You tap and tap for a whole day before you finally break through. This hole is called the "star pip." Now fresh air can get in, but you're exhausted! You fall asleep and don't wake up for about 24 hours.

You wake up with a new feeling of determination to make that hole bigger. You can't whistle while you work, but you can peep. Peeping and scraping, pecking and peeping. Soon the little hole is as big as a dime (not that you know a thing about money!). You can rest a little, but you spend most of your time working, chipping away chunks of the wide end of the egg. To reach more places, you struggle to twist your body around. This is a hard job, but something deep inside makes you keep working until it's done. And you're stronger, breathing fresh air, so you keep at it until in an hour or so you've done it! The big end of the egg is off, and you wiggle out in an exhausted heap. Happy birthday!

Live fish just brought in to LOTL - Laird dropped it and it wriggled and nearly knocked the chick over. It was quite funny.

Have one for me tish OH out tonight so don't think I had better open a bottle of wine, I might end up being ever so slightly merry.

Wrong blog I know but the Laird has just come in with another fish for Lady.  I am really impressed with him now.

Brenda just realised I logged out at about 4.30 without saying goodbye.  As you can see I am back now and have missed Odin being confused by talking eggs.

They have just put an update on to say THE SECOND CHICK was born at 7.50pm

I have been reading the blogs at work.  I just read pg. 16-19 now when I got home. I was cracking up with everyone's description of Odin being afraid of the eggs and the "Odin Shuffle".  I wish one day when you blog you thank them for me.  All of you are so descriptive that it is almost like watching it.  Since I only have the still pictures while I am at work, the blog makes it so interesting.  MY THANKS TO EVERYONE.  I don't know if all of you know how much it helps people who cannot view the webcam during the day.  It is so much help.  Maybe next year I will blog when I get one nesting season under my belt.  By the way, my Roy Dennis book arrived.  I will get it from my daughter tonight.  I will be checking the blog tonight and first thing tomorrow before I leave for the rummage sale.  Don't forget to email me if we have a chick.  God bless our Odin and EJ.  What a couple!!!Nancy
