Looking at the site at Rutland Water. Female having a turn of the eggs and now settling down again. Lovely and calm there as it is here in Northants.
Would be nice to do a diary for the MantonBay (Rutland) as update on other nests now takes ages to get to the end and update.
Do they have names for these two at MantonBay. Please note I have changed the name to Manton Bay (Rutland) nest updates as a suggestion from Sandy. Hope this meets with everyones approval.

It must be great for RW, that they've got a nest with young on the reserve again, whch can be seen from the hides. If I understand it right, there was a nest failure at Manton Bay in 2008 and then the pair involved (08 and 5N) moved off to Site N?
I'm pretty sure I won't make it to LG this summer, but am hoping to get to RW.

Hi Sue. Yes you are right about the Manton Bay nest. The only successful year at this nest was 2007 (happy days). Really hope you can make it up here some time this Summer - you will not be disappointed I assure you!
I've been saving up plenty of holidays for when the chicks (hopefully, fingers crossed) fledge in a month's time. Hope to beat my record of seeing five ospreys in the air at the same time - can't wait.

Good to see a large leftover fish at Manton Bay:
5R left on a fishing mission at 4:45 pm - I know because I was watching in waderscrape hide at the time. It looks like he has recently been successful as this pic shows (can't really see from this view, but there is a very large fish in there somewhere).
Glad you made it there today Sandy. Brilliant views from the Waderscape Hide.
Alan: I hadn't planned on going but couldn't face another day like yesterday and went on a whim. Luckily it was glorious there and had a great time. Couldn't believe there weren't more people there on a Sunday, the only other person in the shallow water hide was the official recorder. Can't upload my rubbish photos (laptop says no) but will post a couple at some point.
Fantastic pic of 5R with a roach taken from the Sunrise cruise boat:

Fantastic pic Alan thanks for that.
