Hi all: Getting a late start here today. Been busy in the garden all day and now working on getting some of the glue out of the corners of the panes in the French door, so have back to computer.
Previous Weekly Chat's last page included long chatty posts from Lindybird and OG, a link from Djoan to the BOT Barn Owls, which have their first egg, and a colorful greeting from Diane to AQ who's having a birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AQ! :-)
Emma: I haven't read anything about Rothes recently but others may know something from other threads. Don't believe there's been an official report. We too have been hearing all about Brown's off the record remark, which prompted replays of various U.S. presidents' gaffes over the years (not like there's any "real" news, right?
Really wild weather here again - sunny but very, very windy. Phoebe is getting blown about and all the leaves etc I swept from the patio door are back again!
Wonderful news Caerann, well done!!! I hope you enjoy the work.
Lindybird - Ah a mystery girlfriend. Must be serious if he has been keeping quiet.
Annette & Diane - I didn’t have to fake it. Dau looked so gorgeous in her wedding dress. (A sample one actually - hers will take 6 months to make - overseas !!!) I looked at her I saw a re-run of images of her as a babe, toddler, all the growing-up stages. There is my little girl all growed up. A lump in my throat. I was late home as we spent some time chatting after. Not often we have time for 1-to-1 chat.
Diane - As I get older I am getting accustomed to the bleeb words as we hear them so often. I was annoyed recently to read a library book where a previous reader had biro-ed through every one of that f-word. Now it was only said by one character and it seemed appropriate to his character. I’m not saying I like it but I hate people who deface books. If you don’t like it stop reading!!! BTW one can't help hearing it on the bus and walking down the street.
Himself & I are dining out this eve (my birthday continues LOL) so I am having another trial hairdo for The Weddings. So I’ll miss ospreys viewing while I am teased & pinned & sprayed into something called an updo. Haven’t found anything to wear yet - the shops are full of dowdy old or trendy teen. <sigh>
While I was wandering by the River Torrens earlier this week , I saw these swans looking as if they had just alighted from a Popeye cruise.
AQ: So glad you had a good time with your daughter; those are always special. So. Nothing to wear, eh? Just "dowdy old or trendy teen?" :-) I usually opt for "classic" but classic somehow costs so much more than dowdy old and my mother's words still ring in my ears when I see an older person dressed as "trendy teen": Mom would tsk tsk and mumble something about "mutton dressed up as lamb." Are those swans for real? They look like garden ornaments! Hope you're enjoying your ongoing birthday celebration.
Those swans were indeed real. They were marching purposely up from the river (unlike yours truly). Here is another pic.
Wonder why it's okay to be a black swan but not a black sheep...
Maybe because black sheep are rare? Black swans are certainly not rare in Aussieland.
I think they're pretty rare here, not sure about the UK.
Hi Emma Peel, Rothes seems fine. There was a blog on April 13th "Hot temperatures, beautiful sunshine and an easy life" and Google Earth has also been updated for her this week - have just posted a snapshot in the "Tracking R&M" thread.
At Chichester, David Shaw reports in his blog that all 4 peregrine chicks have hatched. He has also posted this amazing sequence of shots of the fight last weekend. Please respect the copyright - he has watermarked these, probably indicating that he plans to sell them. Even if I was a good photographer, I'd have been too flustered to take these!
