Yesterday - two fish, not a lot of intrusions, no hatches, lots and lots of rain :-(
But we have a very healthy-looking chick, who is in fine voice:
IMAGICAT
It's Odin again - I think he's brought a fish! Or at least a piece of one:
He has flown and she starts a feed:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Odin with fish
EJ gets water on the cam lens
Birdie Num Num's brilliant DU summary 2017
Of course there would be a big splodge of water obscuring the chick!
I thought I saw movement at the top of the splodge of rain when EJ approached the cup. #1 was at the bottom of the splodge. Darn raindrop couldn't be in a worse place.
After watching again, I think that there MAY be another chick, or it could just be the rain distorting the image.
Morning one and all, poor EJ she's been getting battered with the rain all night, couldn't see the chick when I first came on as there was water on the camera, looks like it's cleared now and she's settled down again.Rain rain go away.
Good morning. I had been watching all night: just as she got up she shook the rain off her wings and a drop landed right in the view of the cup...sigh!
Good morning, Caroline......welcome to the madhouse!
To illustrate the *** blotch / drop on the cam obscuring good sight during that last feed:
i was hopefull at first and saw lotsa hopefullness in the drop o blotch... but by gazing at it and noting movement, and EJ going around made me conclude for now there is still only one chick and two eggs underneath that waterdrop...
Despite my wishfull thinking EJ went around to the side to dunk the tail, ehm gulp it is probably the better way to say it.
2016: first time in history an Osprey nested in the NL. 2018: 2 active nests! 2019 a storm interferes. 2020: a third active nest in a tree!
I need to get ready for work so I'll see you all later.
She is feeding #1 here, you can clearly see his back.
So what is this a few seconds previous?
