HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat thread is here.
Sorry folks, no cheery picture this week. Busy this evening with all sorts of minor crises. LOL
Everyone have a wonderful week!!!
Thanks, dibnlib. Dull here all day after a wet morning.
We just heard about an old friend, who my OH used to help out, as he lived out in the country and without a car: I used to give him lifts sometimes. My OH used to buy him petrol for his lawn mower (the sit on kind, as he had a lot of lawn to see to.) We couldn't get him on the phone for several days, and my OH went round there and knocked on the door: then he asked a neighbour who said he had seen an ambulance going up the long driveway. We couldn't find out any more as the man had no relatives we know of at all. Then a friend of his rang us today. Turns out now that he collapsed at home, and died in hospital later that day - he was about 87.
It's a happy end, as I'm sure he would have absolutely hated being in hospital, he was very independent and had hardly even left the town nearby he lived, let alone the county. So no long drawn out illness, just gone..... The saddest part though, is that we have no-one to send a condolence card to. How rare is that?! He had never married and had no children nor kin.
That is sad, LINDA, but he did have good friends, like yourself and your OH. I hope you can find out about his funeral arrangements and will be able to say your goodbye there.
Lovely photographs, LINDA. Brings back many memories of our holiday back in '94.
Oh Lindy that is so so sad..
Another glorious day here cooler than the the last 3 at 24ish as only about 19. Daisy the sun loving dog is in her element . Garden is doing well along with some repotting.
Ballet in Inverness on Saturday changed handbag for the first time in ages got halfway and Ching a light bulb came on tickets in other bag. So turned round at Dulnain Bridge hoofed it back knowing police camera was sitting in Cromdale phew.
Lindy I had good visits to a Malta with late OH and girls and after he died I felt comfortable to take them there on my own. Very family friendly and as long as you remember road signs are behind you when driving it's a doddle. I remember hoe pleased we were to see a m and s in the area around the Victoria statue.
Nimrod who is at LG for a second stint is Maltese and we have had some lovely chats.
LINDY Sorry to hear your sad news.
WENDY I am sure you could have carried on and they would have let you have your seats anyway.
This evening we went to a cardholder open night at Tiso Outdoor Experience. The "nibbles" provided by Corner on the square were delicious. There was also a draw .....and guess who won approx £420 of outdoor clothing and footwear!!!!!!!!. I could hardly believe it when my first name was called out and OH said "That will be you" I had scrawled my surname as I wasn't going to win so it didn't matter whether it was legible or not. I am still in a daze.
What was so nice was that a member of staff said how pleased he was that I had won instead of "one of those Charlies who only show their face when there is an event on" and the manager said how pleased he was that one of their favourite customers was a winner. Big smile.
Well done you... Didnlibs.
Maybe not on the tickets as youngest did it in her name and tickets went to her address I collected them when I met her to go to Lundy...
WENDY Just as long as you enjoyed it.
looking forward to "Highlands:Scotlands Wild Heart" due to start in a few mins.
Interesting pics, Lindybird, as always. I have never been to Malta.
Yesterdays hospital visit with neighbour went smoothly. Today's for MRI did not go so well. We were a very long time there, and I was hoping to go to bowls club to practise before a match next Tuesday. I did make it back in time, but it started to rain on the way there and persisted, so no practise. I haven't played outdoors yet this season, but no other free time before Tues. Oh Well! hope it will be 'alright on the night"
Neighbour has managed very well without her plaster but got tired yesterday, so I used hospital wheelchair today. I am a bit of a menace with it though. It was like a supermarket trolley with a wonky wheel!
Sorry about your friend, Lindybird, but agree with what you say about not being ill for long.
Hello to Brenda, Dibnlib, Lynette,Margo (glad you are having a better time now)
Annette, and everyone else not mentioned.
Lots of posts...
Wendy - Glad you got in to the Ballet. Hope you enjoyed it!
Dibnlib - How great to win such an exciting prize!! You will enjoy choosing some things for it (I assume you can choose some items).
Rosy - I have a mental picture of you now, whizzing that wheelchair down the corridors! The old gentleman who died had a very happy life, gardening for the wealthy who had large gardens, and some of his grateful clients had left him something in their wills, so he was then comfortable in his retirement, which he spent growing his own fruit & veg and enjoying feeding the birds which came into the garden. I've never seen such beautiful rows of peas, cabbages, and beans! And his sweet peas were worth a picture!
