Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey), 1st May 2016

However did I manage to get in ahead of the lovely Annette and the excellent Diane to start this thread?  Goodness only knows.  Perhaps both ladies are all Trumped out!!

Have a good week, everyone - and special thoughts to Margo, her lovely hubby and Billie!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Went to Harry Gows (local baker) this morning. I bought a Fibremalt loaf, a brown roll, a danish pastry for OH and a filled roll (Coronation chicken) for me. I left £5.37 lighter in my wallet!!!! That filled roll better be good as it cost £2.60. Shan't do that again in a hurry. Gows is a great bakery, but expensive. Don't usually buy filled rolls but just liked the sound of it.

  • Well I am not going to say the filled roll was worth £2.60, but it was certainly very good indeed. Packed full with chicken and packed full with flavour.

Just got a real surprise, Mum stopped answering the phone a long time ago, but I keep on trying, just in case. Today she stunned me by picking up the phone. She had no news of course, but I chuntered on a bit while she 1/2 laughed at everything I said, not that I said anything funny. Anyway it goes to prove it is worth keeping on trying to ring her. I did ask my bro quite some time ago if he would call me from her house, maybe once a month. He said yes, and that lasted exactly one month!!!!

  • Back home - all well - will communicate better tomorrow!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hello Everyone,

A lot has been going on here while I was away. Always a good read.

Stories of Glamorous Grannies, and the usual entertaining doggy tales.

Also smart cats, and rabbits masquerading as cats. The ears are a bit of a clue, but who can tell when in a pet carrier?

I love rabbits. I had several when I was a child. They kept escaping from their hutches  and we ended up with a population explosion. I then kept them all (about twenty) in an outbuilding. Unfortunately, they all got myxomatosis and died. Anyone remember that epidemic? I was very upset at the time.

Hello to Keith G.  Now I am not the last person to join this thread. I am sure there

will be others.  As you know by now, folks here are very welcoming.

I like your hedgehog tales. My sis who I have just been to visit also has them in her garden. I saw three different ones while I was there. She has a house for them and buys special hedgehog food.

She also has a camera and one night last year, a badger appeared on it. She has no idea how it got into the garden. It hasn't been seen since.

I hope OG is still enjoying her holiday.

Glad you liked that roll, Dibnlib. It was worth it if you enjoyed it. Good you could talk to your Mum.

Nice to be planning a wedding, Brenda. I don't think we have any more in this family.

    Best wishes  to everyone else.

  • Good to know you're home safe again, OG. - Hope to hear more about the trip later.

Dibnlib -  That chicken roll sounded good.

We've had a funny day where lots of plans went awry, not that it mattered, but also had unexpected visitors in the afternoon which put off my idea of making a pie out of leftover gammon as it would have been a late meal. So got something out of the freezer instead, and had a glass of wine with it!
