HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Last week's Chat thread is here.

Sorry folks, no cheery picture this week. Busy this evening with all sorts of minor crises. LOL

Everyone have a wonderful week!!!

  • Lindybird: Like the fish-log.  You say that the lake was an old pit - do you know if it was a mining pit or something else?  Hope the window guy has been and gone by now.

Rosy: Just saw your post - I had the same mental picture of Lindybird's girded lions. :-)

Margo: Let me join in Lindybird's wishes for a good week for you and OH.

Double shift at whales this morning; have promised to take pastries and will also make thermos of tea. Then yoga and must fit in some grocery shopping. Eeek. Must zoom off.....

  • Had a great day. We saw a red squirrel doing aerobatics when finishing our morning walk in somewhat dreary weather. Then had some shopping to do.

came home to collect Benson and take him to the groomer, and by this time the weather was looking promising. While Benson was being titivated (takes 1hr 30mins) we returned to town and hit M&S and after food shopping I went to phase 8 and found a pair of summer trousers which were exactly what I was looking for. We then collected Benson (looking extremely sleek) and went to Dores.

This was Loch Ness looking its very best in wonderful warm sunshine. Benson had a fun time playing fetch the stick from the Loch.  A snack at the Inn and home for 1630. Hoping for another great day tomorrow.

  • Didn't notice that I was referring to lions!!  LOL!! Girding them could take some time, after all you'd have to catch them first........

My OH said "Oh, never mind" when the dogs broke my bird bath yesterday. But his face was not quite so smiley today, when we both had a sit down with a cuppa this afternoon, and found that meanwhile she'd been busily digging a hole at least one foot across and three inches deep, in the middle of the lawn.......

  • Dibnlib - Sounds like lovely day for you, with a nice bonus of finding the trousers you wanted.

  • Annette - window man came at lunchtime with apologies for lateness. He measured up in about 2 mins and is going to give us a quote. The pit I mentioned was used to excavate for sand, which locals tell us went off to a glass works to make glass.

  • Hi, All.  Been a really excellent gardening day (with lots of short rests between times!).  OH mostly mowed, while I was planting things in containers.  He also “painted” the shading onto the part of the greenhouse where the cucumbers go.  More gardening planned tomorrow morning, then hairdresser in the afternoon.

Heather – you do sound rather tired, and you don’t have to explain absences from here – so long as all is well with you and yours.  I hadn’t realised you are travelling back with the Danes again – do save some energy to enjoy time there!

Annette – your non-productive Sunday sounds just what you needed, and then a double Whale shift today – with pastries to help the time along.  I hope it was a good counting day.

Linda – everything in our garden also has been getting thirsty – seems only a few weeks since all the plants were drowning!  Sorry about the bird-bath … and (later) the hole!  Nice pics from the sand-pit walk; I like the Canada Geese – looks as if Bonnie does too!  Pleased window man came; I hope he gives a reasonable quote.

Dibnlib – pleased you found the trousers you had been looking for, as well as a good day out – enjoy tomorrow too!

Our dishwasher has broken down; it is taking in too much water (somehow even does it when switched off) and then weeing it out all over the floor.  I found it when I trod in a wet patch in my socks, and it hadn’t been used while we were away; then it did it again today, so we have called out the repair man (covered by an insurance).

Sun is now off the greenhouse, so can go and do some watering of small plants in there and the ones I planted out today.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • OG - Good job your d.washer didn't leak all over, whilst you were away!  You will miss it until the repair man comes - I know we did when we last had a problem, and was surprised at how much we had come to rely on it.

Watching the super programme on luminescence with David Attenborough just now - fascinating.

  • OG  glad your repair will be covered by ins, hope the repair is effected quickly.

  • OG  Glad you fitted in some rests amongst your gardening chores. Sorry about the dishwasher. I am always grateful that they were invented.

Interesting about the sand pits, Lindybird.  Certainly put to good use now.

Went to hospital with my neighbour today to have her leg plaster removed.

Tomorrow, another hospital for a CT scan for another problem. At 8 am!

Daughter and son in law visited yesterday and stayed over. Was a long time at the hospital (what a surprise) so went to a local cafe for lunch. Daughter and I had a 'Green Freak' comprising of avocado, Brie and caramelised onion on toasted sourdough. It was very good. Best not to mention the price!

  • Sounds yummy, Rosy. Hang the price, if you enjoyed it!  8.00am for Hospital appt. sounds grim.

---  think the glass I mentioned was made at Pilkingtons Glass works, which is huge.

In bed, & about to turn out the light -  goodnight all.
