Given the length of EJ's early-morning absence from the nest (best part of 3 hours), you'd think it safe to assume that she did get a fish before the cam recovered just before 0600hr - but MIKE checked in just as the cam came back up, to an empty nest and then Odin flew in. That seems strange - there should have been an exchange on the nest, but the circumstances Mike found are more indicative of EJ having flown for a break and Odin flying in to take over. Maybe she had gone fishing for herself, and that's why she didn't seriously scream for fish all day. I do hope that MOFFER gets a reply to her query eventually.
The dreaded Blue Darvic was on the scene again yesterday (that's blithely assuming he's the same chap who intruded last year)... but Odin dealt with him efficiently. Apart from that it was a lovely day, with both EJ and Odin presenting us with treats for the eyes and hearts on a bright sunny day.
No flyabouts or flaps yet tonight, just the usual alternating between sleeps (plenty) and watchfulnesses and egg-care:
IMAGICAT
Question by EMYR .... does anyone on this thread know which leg the bluedarvic ring of the intruding bird (recently) was on???
Let leg Cirrus, a Scottish bird.
Birdie Num Num's brilliant DU summary 2017
I think it was on the right leg Cirrus.
Sorry Cirrus got that wrong as I've just noticed Moffer has said the left leg.
Odin has a feather on his beak,he's enjoying his duties. Such a handsome boy.
Thanks TWINKLE for your response. Yes, happens to be left leg adn so Scottish bird. We were all rather hoping it might be a boy from the Dyfi Just seen your response MOFFER . Thanks and yes of course you are correct.
Good morning. Just going to try to fill in the early gap, if necessary.
Dulling down now, I'm off out so will check in when I get home. Let's hope there will be no intruders about, knowing Odin he will soon send them packing.
EJ's back 9.55 approx
Odin leaves within the minute
