However did I manage to get in ahead of the lovely Annette and the excellent Diane to start this thread? Goodness only knows. Perhaps both ladies are all Trumped out!!
Have a good week, everyone - and special thoughts to Margo, her lovely hubby and Billie!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Hi, all. I'll be back later to catch up.
Hi Diane. Hope all OK with you.
Lovely to hear about your hedgehogs, Keith. We used to have some who visited, but they disappeared :-(
Watched the programme tonight on BBC2 about the man who rescues kangaroos in Australia. Not seen him before, but it was good.
Good Morning. Cloudy here, but should be dry today.
Starting the day tired as I had a bad night, but will try to zzzzz after lunch to catch up :-(
Been reading but not posting.
It is a glorious day here and I am off to have coffee at a friends house. She has wonderful views over the Moray Firth. May be I will see dolphins
Hope you get to see some dolphins, Dibnlib :-)
(Site is doing funny things again....)
Hello Everyone. Once again I will have to catch up with all your posts for the last few days. The sunshine has made me notice that the house needed a really good Spring clean. All the gardening is as up to date as possible, while we wait for the gardener to send us his plans. Need to start buying plants for various pots now. OH will cut our's and next doors grass today. The washing is hanging outside. I do need to food shop today though.
Spent most of this morning discussing wedding plans with daughter. We are having trouble finding somewhere suitable for the reception, but hopefully she has found one this morning. We need to find a convenient day to look at wedding dresses together !! Mid September is not far away when it comes to planning everything.
Margo and I had a long talk yesterday. She did sound so much better than before her transfusion.
Morning all: Quiet on here what with OG on a trip and Heather dealing with the Danes.
Daughter will be at our house around lunchtime before heading home to her own place this afternoon. I think the rabbit is coming too so must have water bowls ready for bunny and dog when they get out of the car.
Brenda: Thanks for letting us know Margo is doing better. Best to get major wedding plans in place coz there'll probably all kinds of associated things to do over the next few months to keep everyone busy.
KeithG: My niece in Newport Pagnell has a hedgehog that lives in her garden - such a sweet little thing (but what do I know!). When I was tootling around garden centers during my last visit home, I was enchanted to see little hedgehog houses you could buy for them to hibernate in. Fascinating to read about the dueling males. Love the idea of trailcams - we have possums, raccoons and a skunk that often visit our garden after dark. Our cat, who sleeps in the garage at night, just watches them, knowing not to tangle with the raccoon or skunk when they investigate her water bowl.
Lindybird: Hope you're having a nice nap as I type!
Off to market to get a few items - we've finally emptied the fridge after family visit and disposed of anything that looked like it might develop a life of its own. Also want to pick up some basics for daughter for her to take home with her.
Annette I think your cat has some serious common sense, not too sure about our two, but they have enough brain to come in for the night cosy, warm and loved!
Good evening, people! We are very relaxed and having a good time away. Had a good journey here, despite a road closed and diversion – didn’t get lost! Spent a lovely afternoon yesterday visiting Callendar House which exceeded expectations. Slept well last night , which is unusual for me first night away from home. Today’s visit to The Helix and The Kelpies was very enjoyable; I was able to use the scooter for the tour, even inside one of the horses. We also walked/scootered around a lot, including the canal (Forth & Clyde Canal) towpath and the wetland area where we saw a lot of birds, and heard even more among the reeds. Before dinner this evening, we visited the garden centre next door, but managed not to give in to the temptation to buy plants we don’t have spaces for. We were going to have a drive around this evening, but decided not to spoil the day by fitting in any more. Tomorrow’s forecast is for more dry weather, so in the morning we shall go to the Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway, then we shall visit Linlithgow, probably taking in the Palace Ruins and the Peel as well as the Canal Centre (Union Canal) on the way home.
Annette – good to see you are getting some rain and drizzle without dangerous storms. I hope you both enjoyed your celebratory dinner on Wednesday. I had assumed Bunny was to stay in AZ with Ms D, so surprised it is returning with your Daughter and her Dog!
Linda – pleased your dentist was happy with your teeth – and your hair! Congrats on another family arrival! Lovely to see Matthew on his feet – and into everything! Sorry about your bad night, hope you can catch up tonight.
Lynette – I hope your holiday will not be delayed by your OH’s ear or toothache. Have a lovely time, especially after being busy spring-cleaning.
AQ - so sorry about the arthritis flare. Don’t try to do too much while it is like that – correct combination of rest and exercise is all I can recommend, but never easy to find that balance.
Keith – wonderful to know that you have Hedgehogs and that their numbers may be increasing if all goes well – they do have a tough time these days and numbers have been getting horribly low. Pleased to see roof is progressing well, and that you have your plants ready to put in.
Dibnlib – hope you saw Dolphins today. When is it you go to Amsterdam?
Brenda – pleased garden progress is happening, and that you could hang washing outside again. I hope you can enjoy the wedding arrangements without stress – must be difficult, with your Daughter’s work responsibilities. Thanks for news of Margo – glad she is sounding stronger.
OH has made coffee, so I need to drink it before due the next one!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
