A new month and lots to look forward to as we eagerly await these precious eggs which Maya and Blue 33(11) have devotedly protected, hatch!
For anyone new and just starting to watch the Rutland Manton Bay Webcam, here is a brief summary of the 2016 season so far:
The resident female, Maya returned 21 March. Her mate Blue 33(11) returned 27 March. Maya has laid three eggs, #1 on 4 April, #2 on 7 April and #3 on 10 April. Maya and 33(11) are currently sharing incubating duties and we should see a hatch around the second week in May.
Happy viewing

Egg 1 is not even 35 days yet
First eggs normally hatch at 37 days and Maya has a history of being on the slow side. Last year the first egg took 37 days and 17 hours to hatch.

Thanks Noc and Patily for all the updates.
Tiger - thanks for the countdown clocks. Yes, Egg 1 will be 37 days on Wednesday - the 11th being the approximate date for hatch. But an interesting point is Maya delaying incubation as we saw her leave the egg so we could very well go to the 12th.
Interesting that last year the first egg was nearer 38 days ... I wonder if she delayed incubation then. I suppose possible?
I hope the first egg hatches on Thursday morning, as I'll be online. :-)
Maya might have had too much coffee today...

FIIIISH!
It was not coffee, she was looking at 33 coming in with a fish.
33 has just brought in a fish which Maya grabbed and took off with.
So fast and Maya blocked the view so no capture but at least she is being fed. That is the second fish I've seen today.

You make very good points. It could well be Thursday before we see any chicks. Who knows EJ may beat her.
All we had do is start with the normal expectations.
