HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat thread is here.
Everyone have a wonderful week!
I'll be back soon to catch up with everyone.
LINDY There is a lady who lives nearby and she loves sewing. I take everything that needs altering and she charges just a couple of £s.
Anyway I have to plead guilty. We went to Brodie this afternoon to get a couple of cards. We ended up having an enormous meringue and ditto a strawberry cheesecake. We then had a browse and OH bought me a pair of Ugg candy striped pumps and I bought him a polo shirt. Naughty or what!!!
Naughty but nice, DIBNLIB!
We are back at the Travelodge, early to bed as son is collecting us at 7.30 tomorrow morning to drive us to Birmingham airport.
Eldest daughter's birthday today - drove to Shrewsbury, had a good lunch there and a walk around the town. I just wish that Inverness had the same variety of shops! Lucy took lots of photos. We had a light meal this evening at son and daughter in law's home, lots of good family chat etc.
It was fairly cold down here today, wonder what weather awaits us at home.....
Sounds as if you've enjoyed your weekend, Heather. Nice that you got the chance to help your daughter celebrate her birthday.
Dibnlib: Last year I bought a lovely pair of trousers in a sale, congratulating myself on my bargain. But they were also way too long, and as they were of a silky material which I couldn't deal with, I had to pay a lady who does alterations to shorten them for me.....but it still worked out as worth it in the end, I must admit :-)
Hello Everyone.
Thank you for starting the week, Diane, with the lovely picture. Very seasonal.
Lindy, I have been to Madeira, some years ago. A very comfortable climate and lovely gardens.
I know what you mean about 'things that need shortening' Nightmare for me, as I am not very tall and am definitely no good at sewing. I can knit, though.
Glad you are having a good weekend with family, Heather.
Dibnlib, shopping sounds fun, if naughty, But why not!
From last week, Clare, congrats. on the new work. Glad it fits in nicely with the 'day job'
Thank you Diane for starting us off and for the lovely picture - really cheers one up. Weather for the coming week here is not brilliant, returning to wintry weather for a time.
Lindybird - Dau and I went to Lanzarote a few years back and I thoroughly enjoyed the island, taking a tour up to the volcano area and visiting the restaurant there. Also we did the boat trip, thoroughly relaxing with wine and nibbles etc.
dibnlib - Hope your friend enjoyed The Lion King - went to see it a couple or so weeks back and thoroughly enjoyed it for the second time.
Why not spoil yourselves, its always a nice feeling.
Lindybird - re dress and shortening, often I have to shorten my clothes as I am under 5ft and petite sizes don't always fit as I am a bit on the large size. Often adapt clothes although have found that a certain chain offers trousers as short as a 27" leg which is fine for me. Hope you managed the re-hem.
The Girls Brigade at the church I attend were putting on cream teas this afternoon in celebration of St. Georges Day/Queens birthday and I saw on FB in my home area that an estate was putting on a Fun Day etc for St. Georges Day. It is alive and kicking in some areas. I do believe we should celebrate the day as we do the others.
Heather - hope the weekend with family went well.
Clare - hope the first day went well for you in the new job.

Probably DownUnder! After days of low 20s, suddenly today we are expecting 28 C. It doesn't feel hot; it takes ages to reach that temp as the nights are now cool.
This is the first ANZAC Day for ages not cold &/or raining. The old diggers will need their visit to pubs after the march to relubricate!
Hallo all: Quick look in after lovely day with grandson and partner, who came for BBQ with family. Grandson ordered me into a chair to relax with a glass of wine while he cooked the chicken - what a treat! It was good too.
Diane: Thank you again for kicking off the week - and for the lovely sunny card.
Heather: Glad Christening and weekend went well.
Sister, BiL and I went to see whales yesterday and saw 6 (3 moms and 3 babies), all pretty active and close to shore. What a thrill for them!
Have read all your news and also hoping Margo was well enough for a meal out.
Tomorrow going shopping with sister for small easily packable items for her grand kids in the UK, then friends in for tea in the p.m., then Tuesday we're all off to see the Space Shuttle in Los Angeles and out to dinner near the beach before dropping sister and BiL at the hotel for their Wednesday a.m. flight to Chicago and thence to Heathrow. Been a lovely visit. More later. Take care ALL.
Good Morning, and a Happy Anzac Day to those Down Under! How quickly these anniversaries come around.
Annette - So pleased to hear that you're having such a happy visit with the family - special treat that you managed to see some whales! I see you're being ordered to sit down and not try to do all of the catering, too!!
Damp here - my OH is taking our old car in for some work on the exhaust, so hoping the bill won't be too large - she is still limping along and is good enough for trips to the allotment etc, but we will scrap her if she gets too worn out.
Yikes, quiet on here, today! I've been busy again and done lots of small things, and during that time we've had bright sunshine, grey clouds, black clouds, drizzle and just now, hail!
I've also had half an hour to look at my pics taken last November in Malta - looking at them again, now, it seems like a hundred years ago. I'm hoping to post some of them on here for those who are interested.
The car is still at the repair garage, as they are waiting for a very small part to be delivered.
Hope everyone has had a good day!
I've lasted for a second day at work......or should I say they've survived another day of me? Going back for more tomorrow!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
