The purpose of this thread is to record observations, activity and captures of Rutland’s Manton Bay nest throughout the season.
The nest at Manton Bay has been in use since 2007 and its history can be found here.
I am sure I speak for us all in wishing Maya and Blue 33(11) a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
Maya has just arrived with a squirming fish and before I could capture has flown
Morning all - thanks for the updates. I hope Maya is enjoying her fish just now. I wonder where/if she'll leave it?
Scylla - thanks for the vid - wonderful :-) and for trying. I know you don't always manage to get all the action with all the problems you are encountering but you always seem to surprise us coming up with something :-)and is appreciated :-))
Another day of nest keeping for Maya. Some captures I took earlier:
After she finished her fish, she arrived back on the nest just before 10.00am
Done some scraping
then flew off and arrived back a little later with a stick
and then placed it here and then there :-D
Then when happy, she flew off again and a few minutes ago I noticed her back with another stick and trying to place it :-)

More scraping, preparing the bed and she has now flown off I suspect for more.
So I will leave Maya to continue with her nest work and will catch up later as I'm off out now. BFN
Hmmm, maybe that wasn't a good stick to choose muses Maya
