Morning all: Wonderful wind all last night, kept waking up and hearing the sighing and moaning (or was that OH?) :-)
Heather: Oh bummer - and I bet the glue isn't doing anything for your hair style. Did the hospital do that or was it a DIY fix? OH - finally - started doing the exercises for that problem religiously and they worked. Did take a little while though. Suggest you start checking out international webcams to keep you occupied for the next few days - they're all over the world and quite fascinating.
Downtown Abbey segment last night was the one where Lord Grantham's ulcer went kapooey at dinner. Blood all over the best linen and crystal! He apparently survived coz they showed snippets of next week's program and he's in it. But no spoilers please from those who know what eventually happens!
Laundry basket has been sitting in front of the washing machine for two days now. Doesn't look like it's going to do itself....
Just a quick post to say Diane hope you are feeling better.
Heather sorry to read about your fall, take it easy won't you.
Lynette hope your cold and eye problem will improve.
Thinking of you all in Scotland as the next storm hits. Stay safe.
Weather today has so far been tolerable – wind rather rough crossing the head of the estuary where it was blowing inland across the marshes, but plenty of sunshine this morning, and very little rain here today. These more direct treatments are a bit of a bore – have to stay still much longer because of all the extra number-crunching and imaging, but two down, three to go. Had fishcakes (without the chips) and salad for lunch at OTB. Since then have reached bottom of ironing pile, and done a few other simple tasks.
Wendy – sorry to read about two BoP fatalities – pleased no suspicious circumstances. Good that you and Daisy-May are enjoying your walks, despite the weather.
Lynette – I hope the cold/sinusitis will leave you soon, and that the conjunctivitis (if that is what it is) will soon clear up with ointments/drops.
Diane – as above, no great problem with storm Henry so far – and should have blown himself away by tomorrow.
Annette – pleased you got more rain! I hope the visiting cat won’t upset poor Lightning.
Dibnlib – well done getting all your appointments booked this week. I hope you can keep the boy warm, with his new haircut! Sorry you have another funeral at the church – good that the church family will be doing the catering; our church at the time did that for my Mum and it was just as she would have wanted, and a great witness to her sister and nephew. Pleased you got at least the one set of tickets you hoped for.
Heather – oh dear! In the wars again, I see! So, do follow orders to rest, accept family help (they are always ready to ask for yours) and listen to yourself and take care!
Rosy – good to see a post from you again – I trust all is well with you and OH.
Margo – is tomorrow transfusion day? I hope the hospital will be kept warmer than last time and all goes smoothly – take care.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Well it's been wild and windy here guys with 2 interesting Daisy walks...brrr
Around 2pm OH was looking out of his study window and noticed enormous tree on the bank opposite us. It was leaning strangely to the left. Sadly it's getting very close to our electric cable. Phoned Scottish Power who were here in 20 mins. It seems it's got to go and they are waiting for lumberjack guys to come. It seems it's got to come down tonight. Difficulty is its across a fast running burn and we could also be without of power for a while. So just sitting waiting and putting evening meal on hold.
I hear van doors in the dark so will see you all on the other side!!!!
OG yes transfusion day tomorrow. Thought your trip might be a bit stormy. I am going in with plenty of layers this time.
wendy hope you are not to long without power. Good they have managed to get out quickly.
Hi everyone. Just back from an enjoyable bowls session. Windy here, but definitely not stormy, with some drizzle in the wind. I really will be thinking of you all, in the storm's path tonight, when Henry is at his worst. Stay safe {{ hugs }}
OG, I do admire how you are coping with your treatment and then returning home to tackle all the ironing.
Annette, Pleased to hear you have had more rain. Sounds as if the stray cat is becoming quite brave, by scratching on the door. Like OG, I would worry about upsetting Lightning.
Oh Heather, poor you. Your head must be very sore. Resting means that you do nothing. Take care and let others look after you.
Dibnlib, You are good, helping with the catering for the funeral. Sorry you couldn't get both set of tickets, but pleased that you will be able to attend one of the concerts.
Wendy, They are brave men, who are coming out to remove that tree, during a storm. A dangerous job for them. Hope you are not without power for too long.
Well guys we are on plan B.
We have a gale again and as on steep slope over a burn its deemed too dangerous. We quite understand. Guys just knocked with update.
If it falls in night they will treat power cut as an emergency. We will be without power whatever tree does so maybe if it falls naturally overnight it will make their lives a lot easier. It's a very tall whippy tree that has split. Oh the joys....not:-(
WENDY- hope that you will be OK overnight, forecast said to be strong winds. Can you boil kettle on woodburner? Only ask because that is what my bro does. Suppose it depends on type of woodburner. They cook casseroles on theirs.
Thanks, all for good wishes :-) ANNETTE- if my OH had mended my head he would have used wood glue! Hospital were very artistic and pulled the edges of cut together ( it is about an inch and a half) using my hair. Then tied knots in my hair and then applied glue. No hair washing for two days and must wait for hair to grow out and then get it cut. Had to laugh, one of my daughters asked questions and said 'Well, at least you didn't break a nail'. Of course that was the daughter who is a nail technician LOL.
Heather yes we can and will keep it stoked up overnight just in case. Himself is not impressed as I have been saying for the last 2 years it's been tilting. I am so like you as would never say" I told you so" ;-) Oh and keep resting but a bit like you I am a butterfly as can't keep still!!
Wendy – sounds a bad situation, but suppose it’s right that they are playing it “safe” – just hope that if the tree falls it’s not with a dangerous short circuit! Good that you have a wood-burner for essential heat and can boil a kettle!
Brenda – it wasn’t “all the ironing” as such – just some left over from Saturday when I didn’t feel like tackling the whole pile! It’s good to see the end of it, and Sunday to Tuesday the wash-loads are all non-iron (except for J’s going-to-work clothes which he irons himself), but more will appear on Wednesday!
Heather – is it standard practice to tie knots in your hair to unite the two sides of the cut? What if a person has short hair? I guess they would use steri-strips on a bald head! Anyway, keep resting!
